| It's seem like they are always pissing him off. Some of the reporters are a little disgruntal. Their air time has been reduced to 5 minute segments. I could be wrong but I think it is only a matter of time before Howard pulls the plug on the news dept... just sayin' |

| I also hate when they do news reports while im listening to the replay and it gives away stuff that I haven't heard yet. I wish he would send half of the news team to Iraq to ask the exremists what they think of howard stern. But keep shulie and Penny Crone just cuz they are histerical. Shulie is a talented comedian and Penny is just entertaining to listen to almost as an inside joke. |

| I think they add some great stuff to the show, and it works well keeping it down to 5 minutes. HOWEVER, when there's a slow Howard news day, then their material is really limited. I think it would be nice if they could actually cover some 'real' news as well the Howard entertainment news. Then I'd never need to change the channel. |

The updates spoil the replays and the reporters' personalities when they try to put themselves into the stories are just unbearable. The only one I'd keep is Shuli.
You can't really blame them though. It was a bad idea to begin with, having an entire news team to report only on the Stern show... |

The most annoying thing about the show these days is Lisa G's unfunny boring ass.
When she comes in, the fun stops. When she chimes in with her stupid quips, I reach for the fast forward button.
NO MORE HS NEWS!
Fun for a while, but it's just not working anymore.

| i think it is only a matter of time. there probably will not be a definitive pulling of the plug but they will gradually be phased out. the news department is for the most part, a big waste of air time and money. the best long term scenario i can see for the news is that a few feild reporters like shuli would be kept to capture tape to be used on the regular show. |

I usually notice when someone is funny, I must not be paying attention when Shuli comes on. When Howard "sells" something soo hard, like he does with the news, I am doubtful. I do think they should fire everyone but Penny and not tell her the news no longer exists, just fuck with her all day long...
oh, and keep page 69. I love hearing about what fucked up thing Sal has done that he has no idea is wrong. |

I think the news suffers because they're limited to only show happenings and can't report on things that listeners might want to hear about that don't necessarily have to do with the show specifically
I think they should go explore some of the more quirky stories that Robin reports on. They should get out there and dig up some more dirt on those. |

personally i am not a fan of the news.
i love steve's energy and shuli's wit. keep them as field reporters.
however please pull the plug on Lisa G and Penny. Lisa is annoying because she takes it all so seriously and wont give howard the info he wants. its his damn show, answer his questions.
penny is also annoying because i swear she'll do anything to get on the air.
as a SFN project, some guys should start a list of every outragerous thing Sal, Richard, and Penny do to get on the air and waste out time. |

Ditch the current news dept. idea - and the hourly updates.
Keep Shuli and Penny and maybe Langford, but make the news a weekly 1 hour show on 101 in the 7 pm slot - it can feature stories and they can be a little more in depth, or edited, or whatever -
I like the news - but I would like it better if it were presented in a show, rather than what seems like every 10 minutes. |

| It will be a long, slow painful process but eventually the news will disappear. It's such a drag on the show. They get great momentum, and then one of them comes in with nothing to say and it just slows everything down. I wish them all well in the future, but they just don't fit in. |

I think that the news team is a good thing but I think they are still trying to find their own niche. It can't be easy being a "news team" in an evolving environment like Sirius and the Howard Stern Show. They already know they are playing second fiddle and hovering in the shadows for scraps of appreciation. Can't be easy as they are proffesionals but not sure of where everything for THEM is going. I think they can be something interesting, people who are interesting, and news that is interesting. They just need to find an angle.
They need to break away from Howard. They need to have freedom of creativity just as Howard demanded freedom of creativity from WNBC and others. They need to stop trying to steal the lime light and just report on interesting items instead of focusing on Howard. Definitely include news of Howard but also other interesting items around the globe. They are a news team, act like one.
Howard strove to be different then everyone else and if Howard wants a news team then they need to be different then everyone else. Go where no man has gone before because the government sensors regular tv and radio. They now have the ability to do news that they wish they could have done while they were on the networks and regular radio. To them I say GO FOR IT WITH GUSTO!!!!

And when they do have something newsworthy, Howard asks them to talk about it when they're doing news teases anyway. |

Personally I get annoyed when he brings in one of the newspeople during the show for
the "upcoming" teasers because it seems to change the entire momentum of the
show. If they were coming in to give a newsbreak about something that the group
could then discuss, I would not mind it. |

I guess I am reapeating what most have said, but I really don't like the news department. I really don't see what they add to the overall show because it seems that they just make up useless stories when the news is slow (which is most days). One of the only good things the news department did was when Steve Langford took down John Manelli. Oh and I can't stand Penny Crone, she tried to take credit for the Minelli scoop on the wrap up show last week. What BS! I also hate it when she was talking to Artie and Baba Booey about "always coming back with a story" when they were saying sometimes there isn't a story that exists. It was really frustrating listening to that washed up drama queen justify her job. That was awesome when Ronnie pulled that prank on Penny with "Bonnie" Mund. Haha.
As for the rest of the team, if they are going to keep the News, they should keep Steve and and maybe Lisa and move Shuli to do something else since he isn't totally useless. The rest probably should just retire. It was funny when there was a 60mins clip on Yahoo! that had Ed Bradley come into the news dept room and see Ralph and was suprised to see him there. It was funny because it was so awkward between the two of them - working together years ago and now one is on 60 mins and the other came out of retirement to work for H100 news. Good stuff. |
