I pulled into a rest area on I-90 in northern Indiana yesterday right after the Bubba Dee deal on Howard, I was talking to another driver while standing in line waiting to get so grub at Mcdonald's when a women who worked there asked us if we were talking about Bubba the Love Sponge. I said yes and she said wow I used to listen to him down in Tampa. I told her he was on Sirius and told her that he grew up just about 60 miles south of this rest area.
she was very happy to know Bubba was back on the air, I gave her some info on Siruis and a rebate coupon.
I left for Elkhart, IN. and then down through Warsaw on my way to Marion.
Warsaw has one hell of a highschool! other then that, it's a bit bigger then I thought it would be!
I really do think Sirius should advertise with Billboads or something in these area's.. there are a lot of fan's who still seem to think Howard and Bubba are off the air!

I could Not agree more. Why there are not billboards on I-4 here in Florida baffles me. There are plenty of unused boards. I travel 90 miles each way everyday. This is just ball dropping at its finest.

yup! and why not shoot us a Beer League premiere somewhere out here in the midwest?
Jaeger
You know, I fear if Sirius were to read this thread they would smile and say "mission accomplished" Because it sounds like you are selling radio's for free. Why pay for Billboards when out subscribers promote for free.

and Yes We need Beer League down here as well.

I'm sure within the last two year's I've helped sell hundreds of unit's.. all last year I talked about nothing but Sirius in the truck stop parking lot's.. most would say I already have XM, but there would always be a few that would say they were changing or they wanted to know more about Sirius.. I even sold one of my unit's to a guy driving across I-40, I pulled over and sold him my Orbitor for 60 bucks, and left the service on for the remainder of that month for him!

That "get your own sirius" deal is genious. Three different friends of mine have heard the ad while in my car and they all asked if they could use my account to get a radio of their own.
dlynx
Only problem with billboards, is that CBS/Clear Channel owned companies seem to own about 75% of them.

I got one for my wife. I got tired of having to take mine out of my truck to put in hers just to go to the store. :rolleys:
I just couldn't pass the deal up.

Ok, I gotta tell this one.
I was taking a shit at the TA truck stop(middle stall) at I-95 and Hwy 60 in Vero Beach ,Fl. I looked aroung to read the walls as I was trying to get it all out. On the big ass toilet paper dispenser someone had wrote in sharpie "Howard Stern on Sirius SAt. Radio Howard 100-101
Bubba the Love Sponge on Howard 101
Join the Revolution, Get Sirius."
I just thought that was cool , getting the word out by what means nessesary.

Ya know....You'd at least think Chicago would have one showing. I was hoping for Minneapolis, but I think we'll have to wait till it hits big time or DVD.

Thanks Jaeger! I was half-expecting a certain amount of hazing for announcing myself, as it occurs on certain other forums I have visited before.
Jaeger
Not here bro. Not until you say something completly retarded at least. :D :D
USMCMatt
Yeah Jaeger... here in orlando, clear channel ownes about 90% of all major boards on the highways, you'll never see a sirius ad
BisonHead
Problem is most billboard are contolled by Queerchannel outdoor advertising.
Major Player
Sirius Satellite Radio needs to come to a event and others around the country I went to Tuesday. Husker Harvest Days in Grand Island Nebraska is a huge event that attracts over 100,000 people, mostly farmers who are looking to buy new equipment. There is no better place to listen to Sirius than on the tractor with the FM converter.

I have called into Ferral, Bubba and Howard's voice mail's and asked for permission to put some type of small sign, sticker or any type of advertisement on the tail gate of my Chevy truck..have yet to hear from any of them?
Funny CBS had al those Billboards but never put Howard's face on them
Cocky
I used to be a staunch XM promoter as I installed a full stereo system in my car a few years ago that was XM ready. They had everything I wanted and liked, and nobody could tell me different. Later on I canceled the service since I didn't drive as much as I wanted to. And then Lex and Terry came onto XM and just made my day since they were syndicated through the area where I grew up and I hadn't hears them in years.

So beginning my trucking career, I was all set get XM in my truck. Fortunately my trainer had Sirius, and he listened to BTLS and Stern. Now I never have been much of a Stern fan, but listening Bubba made me forget about XM and his competitors Lex and Terry. Sirius not only has that over XM, but the comedy is better, the music is infinitely better, and the talk shows are better with the exception of Coast to Coast AM which I do miss from my XM days.

It's a minute sacrifice to hear some of the best programming on the air. Unfortunately most XM subscribers are just the way I used to be. They only have to hear it for themselves to know the difference.

Listen to 147 from 10am till noon bro., it's a pretty good trucking show!
