Once a Stern show is recorded onto the unit, is there a need for good satellite reception to play it once it is recorded?
I ask because I can't get reception at my job, but I was thinking I could record the pervious day's show and listen to it the next day. Since the show is already saved, there shouldn't be a need for reception. Also, could the Stiletto be this way? |

No. Once it is recorded you do not need reception. The Stilletto will be the same.
One thing you may want to think about though is that it can only record while docked. If you record the show one morning and then take it to work with you the next morning, you will not be able to record that morning's show.
I record the show in the morning while I'm at work. I undock it when I get home in the evenings and listen portably all evening. I then redock and schedule the next day's recordings. Repeat Mon-Fri. |

If your goal is to listen to the recordings at work, then you will have to record one of the replays in the evening. The problem with that is that SIRIUS doesn't update the PDT screen during replays and the S50 has no bookmarking.
(And remember the replays are often fucked up, out of order or cut short.) |

I record in one hour chunks every morning on my S50. I miss about one hour on the subway so I have to try record that part of one of the replays. I use the car dock at home and the home dock at work (I bought an extra antenna so I don't have to move the one from my car, and a power adapter). I listen to it while it records, but at work I'm running around so I don't mind listening to it again once I've recorded the whole show. The Wrap Up Show gets cut off on the replay so I always try to record it live when I'm at work.
It doesn't leave me much time for any of the other shows or channels. |

| I don't know what part of the country you live on, but I'm in Arizona so I record the east coast feed every morning starting at 3:00am my time. I grab my S50 on the way to work at 8:00am and listen to the show all day long. I love the S50. |
