Sirius staff. I notice on the evening replays the sound quality is tinny. It sounds like a 48kbs mp3 while the live feeds sound damn close to a 128kbs mp3. Am I off on this?

I hear the same thing and have come to the same conclusion :(

just curious: what benefit would they get from doing that? Is there some way that this would save money? usually when I look for motivations, for people I look for sex, power and money as motivations. For corporations I look for money. as long as the transmitter is transmitting, how would reducing the bandwidth save them money?

the only thing I can think of is that they're running out of archive space, but I don't think they would want to be archiving low bandwidth stuff... unless they have 2 systems, 1 for permanent storage and one for temporary playback

/signed Noticed this a while ago.

Along the similar lines, does anyone know if the Stilletto 100's internet radio will support the new high-bandwidth streaming?

I figured they don't feel the replays are important enough to play at high quality and need to make space for evening programming like sports.

Well I wonder if I can figure out how much the bit rate changed. But I don't know how much the xact replay holds

the buffer used to be 41:13 now it is 48:35
