Has anyone experienced long periods of static? I have a Starmate and latley, the static has been getting on my nerves. I still have a regular antenna on my car. Should I take that off? I also have everything connected through my cigarette lighter, which I guess doesn't help. I try different frequencys and everything with no luck. I try positioning the antenna in different directions...nothing.
Is it my setup all together or what? |

In addition to being unable to get the internet stream at work I have noticed static that I never had before, I thought that maybe my Starmate was getting old or something....these are both problems that started in the last week. I have a feeling Sirius fixed something that wasn't broke. Maybe Howard should make an announcement regarding problems his company has . Yeah his company.....3 million listeners did not buy Sirius and subscribe at $12 a month plus the $50 -100 dollars for the reciever and set up fees to get Martha Stewart.

It's the local radio stations interfering with the Starmate's built-in FM transmitter. The fix is fairly easy. Either remove your regular car antenna or install(or have it installed) this Wired FM Modulator http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...d=1117177049245
It's only $20 and will solve all of these static problems as long as your Sirius receiver has an "FM Out" connection. All the Starmates, Sportsters and Starbases have this FM Out.
The S50 also has this FM Out to connect to the Wired FM Modulator.

| The wired FM modulator is definitely the way to go. I hooked one up and it took all the static away. |

| The FM modulator is twenty bucks, The install is around seventy-five as they have to pull the radio out .Most radios have different antenna connections than the Sirius does so they are charged also. I learned the hard way - Disconnect your antenna just by unscrewing it if you can and it gives you the same results as the modulator. |
