Corey Lidle a suicide? - Click HERE to go to the original thread with graphics
mickey4848
Donnie Moore was a black pitcher with the California Angels who shot himself to death a few years after giving up a home run in the 9th inning to the Red Sox in the 1986 AL Championship Series. The Angels had been ahead 5-4 at the time and were one strike away from advancing to the World Series. Instead, the Red Sox went.

Similarly, Corey Lidle was pounded by the Tigers in his only appearance for the Yankees in the last game of the division series. He came into game 4 with the Tigers leading 4-0. He gave up 3 runs and put the game pretty much out of reach. The Tigers kicked the shit out of the Yankees in that series and are now favored to win it all.

Apparently Lidle's plane took a sharp U-turn before crashing into that building. Reports are that the plane was low on fuel, so that's probably it, but it's common for suicide victims to mask their deaths as accidents, to spare loved ones. Just wondering...

Famous last words:

"The flying?" the 34-year-old Lidle, who had a home near Los Angeles, told The Philadelphia Inquirer this summer. "I'm not worried about it. I'm safe up there. I feel very comfortable with my abilities flying an airplane."

If he really was low on fuel, why did he do a U-turn right into a building? Usually you try to do an emergency landing, say, on Randall's Island just to the north, which has plenty of parkspace for a plane to land.

They also just said on Larry King there was too many flames to be low on fuel.

I agree, leave it alone until the facts come out. GO TIGERS

I think the importat thing to remember here, despite their loss to the Tigers, is that it is ow proven that Yankee pitchers CAN hit the side of a buildig.

This, from the schoolgirl with 26,000 posts. I bet you're good at texting too. Stick to MySpace and the Justin Timberlake fan club, yeah? :p

Giving up 3 runs while you're already down 4 in the first round of the playoffs isn't exactly like being one out away from the World Series.

If I were ANY of the Yankees, excluding Jeter, I know *I'D* want to leave the country right now...

All day on WFAN Mike and Chris made mention (after having phillyburbs.com reporter and personal friend of Corey, Randy Miller on the air) that Corey was indeed heading out to California, after making a few "stops" here and there. He was gonna fly out, not on this trip, but within a few weeks. I don't know what his plans were after that, they made no mention.

While Mike & Chris gave a heartfelt broadcast and helped break the story today, Scott Ferrall did a better job, put things back in perspective, after all the sensationalism and bullshit from the "news" and espn today. Fucking garbage.

Why?

So as not to have to take shit off of everyone for not winning with their loaded roster. Jeter's the only one who played respectably. Plus, with all the poon he gets, why leave the country?

 After the way the Tigers pounded the crap out of them, Yankee fans have been spotted walking around New York with paper bags over their heads. Some have even converted to Tiger fans... all I got to say is: fuck off, bandwagoners.

That really wasn't very funny, and neither is your post. Dumbass.
johnni37
I agree. Why make tasteless posts on something like this? Poor guys. Can only imagine what the last minutes of that flight were like. He knew he was in trouble as Teterborough confirmed. Thankfully, he didn't hit a more densely populated area.

Def not a joking matter. I live 15 blocks uptown from the building, so it struck close to home, as it did for all New Yorkers who lived through 9/11. A couple things:

1. The crash happening only a few days after he got lit up by the Tigers. That, by itself, is a coincidence. But...

2. Why do a U-turn into a Manhattan building? That looks like an intentional act. He could have landed on Randalls' Island, a couple miles to the north.

Bottom line is, why the fuck are they letting recreational flyers take sightseeing tours over New York?

No shit, if you look at the time I started this thread, it was 3:42, at that time no one had any idea there was a Yankee in the plane, I did it as a joke, and it was funny, until it turned out a Yankee really crashed the plane... I feel really bad that it was Lidle, I mean a thread like that is funny, then when you find out I was actually close, it then turns bad...
PicksForArtie
How about this crazy shit I just read on ESPN.com.. The apartment Lidle hit, was the 3rd base coach for the Mets apartment! He left at 2 to go to the field for what he thought was the game last night.. 1 hour later and he would be dead.. how crazy is that?
tommyp
Forget all this crap...how about the NTSB babe who's been answering the media's questions?
