Anyone have the old Sirius Sportster Boombox? the original one, probably about 2 years old now...I have that one and I've been having problems with it. It keeps telling me that it can't detect the antenna. I have to hit it a couple times and then it finally sees it. It's pissing me off. I don't hit it very hard, so I don't think I've broken it...I suppose I could open it up and see if there's a loose connection---anyone else have this problem and could give me a tip before I take screwdriver to boombox?
The receiver works fine otherwise in the car, even though it loses signal a ton when I go through Cheshire, CT....not really sure why, because it doesn't just happen where there's trees...sometimes it goes out when i'm in open road...grrrr. can't wait for ground repeaters to make it everywhere... |

It's gotten to the point where if I don't log onto the online stream I can't listen at home. the boombox barely goes on now... |

It sounds like a loose connection on the antenna. If you have any other Straight Through Antennas, try swapping the one on the Boombox with it.
I've had a lot of people trip over the Antenna Wire and pull it out from the Boombox in a way that damages the antenna.
The best thing to do is isolate the problem. If your receiver is fine in the car, I bet it has to do with the Boombox antenna or the power. I'd be surprised if something inside the Boombox is causing it issues. |
