probably because you're all too involved with reactionist politics and conspiracy theories. i could really care less about "debating" with the stoners and mixed-up kids who post in this pathetic excuse for a political forum. i'll leave the people with half a brain with this though, take a look at this huge story, why isn't it big news on CNN? look at the people on the "left" and what they're fighting for. look at what people like George Soros stand for and where they throw their money. these are the people you're aligned with politically? if this country hadn't lost it's balls in the 1960s this piece of garbage Lynn Stewart would be hung for treason. an activist judge and Soros' money got her a light sentence. |

| What's the big deal? She broke the law, and should have got more jail time, but what about the sentence is "activist"? I thought judicial activisim was all about judges overturning legislation, "legislating" from the bench. It looks like the Soros contributions were as much about ensuring her compenent representation as anything else. That's one of the great things about this country, even baby killing mad dog rapists are at least entitled to legal counsel. |

I assume you are referring to the Military Commissions Act.
This contradicts this statement "today our President signed a law that effectively allows him to hold any American citizen prisoner with out explanation or trial" you made....
Sec. 948c. Persons subject to military commissions
`Any alien unlawful enemy combatant is subject to trial by military commission under this chapter.
I could not find anything in here (albeit after a quick review) to support your claim. Where did you read that citizens can be held without explanation or trial? |

I think what he means is a detainee's that is designated as an enemy combatant under the Combat Status Review Tribunal, would lose guarantees provided by the Bill of rights, like habeus corpus, regardless of whether he were an American citizen or not.
I'm no expert, but that's what it sounds lile to me... |
