new question re: XTR1 FM transmitter - Click HERE to go to the original thread with graphics

I have one now that is failing in general. Up 'til recently, when it was working, the FM could reach all the radios in my home.

I've read on SFN that newer receivers of other models like the Sportster have the FM transmission greatly weakened.

Has anyone recently acquired an XTR1 as a warranty replacement (or who had an older one and bought a new one recently), who can tell me if the FM transmission is just as strong as the older receiver, or is weaker?

FCC rules mandate all new radios have weaker fm transmitters.

Thanks for the info. I would like, however, to hear from someone who actually has got a replacement for the XTR1. Not that I will, since no one else has replied to this.

I thought my FM transmitter suddenly weakened and it was because a new FM station had started up on the frequency I was using. Try to find another less busy FM frequency. That may be tough to do in LA.

I'm having the same problem in one of my two units. I bought the SIRIUS FM Direct Adapter from the site yesterday and tried to install it last night, but the jacks weren't compatable. I went to Radio Smack at lunch and got an adapter. I installed it but it's still crapping out on me. With this issue and the fact that Sirius still hasn't sent my two rebates yet, I'm going to cancel this year unless I can get these issues resolved...

update: I finally got a replacement XTR-1, and the FM transmitter works just as well as the old one. It still reaches everywhere in my home. I received it on Feb. 6 of this year.

I also had bought an FM transmitter from CCrane, and I do not regert that. I use it for all kinds of things.

Of my original two XTR1 units, I had to send one back for replacement under warranty and then the replacement went, so I had to send that one back for a replacement. The other original unit is still going strong. My FM transmitters aren't too effective for in-house transmission, but they work well in the vehicles...
