I got a new Starmate Replay during the FREE radio offer.

Has anyone else experienced VERY WEAK FM transmitter results with this unit? My other unit is a XACT Visor XTR3...which is a $49 unit and has a VERY STRONG FM transmitter that reaches all the rooms in my house. The Starmate even has issues in the car, when the unit is only 1 foot away from the car radio!

Should I send this unit back or is this just a normal thing with the newer untis?

No need to reply to this post. I just found my answers in a BUNCH of previous posts on this issue.

For those who want to know without searching.....yes, the new radios have weaker FM transmitters per an FCC mandate.

Great i wait 4+ months to get back a S50 that won't work in a car without out an mp3/aux
input!!!!!!!!!!

Rule #1: Don't mess with the FCC, ATF or IRS

You can easily fix this by installing a Wired FM Relay Switch(about $20) : http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/SIRI...roductDetail.do You will never need to use the built-in FM transmitters again, and you'll have ZERO interference from local FM stations, giving you very clear audio that's not competing with static. It's well worth the cost and effort if you haven't already used it.

the problem with this item is.... it is designed for cars not for home stereos....

check other threads there is a thing called FM Transmitter Antenna... it does work... i think xm also has a product that is compatible too...

2 things:
It shouldn't be an issue since the audio out can go directly into your stereo
OR buy a powered FM transmitter so you can transmit throughout your house - http://ccrane.com/radios/fm-transmi...ransmitter.aspx

Do they only go through the house or can you get reception outside ? Is a 200 yards to much to ask for ?
