| This guy rarely voted with Bush. He was one of the very few Senators in either party to vote against authorization for the war in Iraq, yet he remained a Republican. I would have won in a cake walk & the Senate would have retained a politician with great intergrity. Why would he run as a Repub in a State where Bush has a 22% approval rating? It would be one thing if he was only at odds with his party over the war, but he often on numerous issues did not vote with Bush & his party. |

| Chaffee got the shaft for being stereo typed being a republican. He was very moderate. Its a shame the republicans lose someone who actually isnt an imcompetant money grubbing asshole.... |

I didnt want to come out of the clostet and all, but I voted for a republican, Jerry patterson (R), he was the best one I could find, and he didnt seem so bad to me, seemed even better than his opponents...
of course I live in the gerrymandered TX... so it was probably my only usefull vote, but... leastItried...

Not at all. In a way it's actually better for the GOP if he's out. He was one of the "and some Republicans" you constantly heard about in press reports giving added credence to Democrat opposition on whichever issue. |
