Someone at work talking shit, but making me think. Are police or law enforcement agencies going to start monitoring online wagering a little more closely? Ask bank for records, stuff like that. It was bugging me out earlier. Any opinions?
Saul Hudson
No, they will not. The new law that was passed technically doesn't make it illegal to place a bet online. It makes illegal for banks to transfer money to online gambling sites.
jrzguyfla
I see. Thats interesting.
nedmark61
the CIA does though
Rehren
fuck'em just get a bookie

It is hard to believe that in today's world, any governement and taxpayer time and money is spent on stopping online gambling. The hypocrisy is unreal. Much like the Janet Jackson and steroids hearings, it makes me embarassed for our Congress.

Come on there time is spent fighting terrorist on the local front.
Morality and terrorism is tied hand in hand that's why prostitution and strippers marijuana you know all those misdemeanor offenses are investigated so thoroughly.
I belive that some how saline implants must be tied to terrorist threats because law enforcement wants to ban lap dancing.

It is technically illegal to gamble on-line. The new law they passed goes after the Money, banning credit card company's from processing the transactions this goes for bank transfers etc. get a good book who operates outside the US, and isn't affected yet. The US is part of the WTO, the WTO said look you can't ban gambling it will affect our members Bush said I am a dictator and a dick head so fuck yourself, the challenges are on-going.

But much like claiming rumsfeld was doing a good job then firing him the day after the election, I am sure the democrats find better things to do like increase the minimum wage for the losers who have no skills.

To sum up look for books outside the states not bound by us law, and don't commit any crimes that would cause US Law enforcement to attract attention to yourself.

Intertops.com & Betus.com are two of thousands, and over a dozen way's to put money in. I BELONG TO BOTH.

wouldn't they do something similar to the way that they check to make sure no Americans are spending money in Cuba, by monitoring bank credit card charges and electronic fund transfers?

There's just no way they could ever keep track of all the 3rd party services that might fund a gambling site. It could be an infinite amount of degrees of separation. i.e. I could send a check to a Sweedish version of NetTeller who could then hand cash to betus.com. There's no way the government could follow all those transactions.

That's why the US gov't should have just legalized it, regulated it, and cashed in on the taxes. They would have made billions.

All interesting replies. So far my card is being accepted at where I play. I am sure some day soon, it won't. Will banks still let you deposit checks from these sites?
The1842Regiment
Don't the rules for getting a warrant for that information still apply, which would require some type of probable cause? I don't think they can just go trolling in protected/private areas for violations. Who knows.... don't trust them anyway

It'll be the same way as depositing money. Banks probably won't accept payments directly from online gambling sites. But, they'll have to accept payments from 3rd party Netteller/PayPal-like sites that will accept money from online gambling sites.

I think by law federal reserve won't let banks decide who they will and will not accept checks from, they might hold it for 14-21 days, but what's to say your not a contractor who did work for the gambling site? They have to pay people as well. Who knows it's all bullshit what's the difference between gambling on-line and in Vegas or with a local bookie?

Oh Vegas pays taxes, and has a lobby group, bookies keep the local economy going and well off shore books keep the rest of us happy.

Government has been trying to regulate the Internet and all the cool things the net is for for years they will never be able to succeed.

Thank goodness the republicans are out of office who knows how far they would have gone.
