Hey Guys....I bought the Morales-PacMan fight and apparently the same result happened in the Matt-GSP fight. Pacman dominated with a KO as did GSP in one sided fights.
Not too surprised after their first fight even though GSP got caught in an Armbar he was pretty much dominating Matt up untill then...
Now the question is does Bubba hold the same black cloud that revolves around Scott the Engineer? Matt Fucking Hughes and Rich Fucking Franklin got fucked....too bad Sylvia didnt get his, but Vera will destroy him in due time.
Cant wait for the Monday post mortem...

Well from what I read Vera destroyed Mir, but Mir is a total shell since the wreck. But Vera has the speed and explosiveness and power which is everything Tim "the sloth" Sylvia lacks. Of course Tim has a huge reach but his boxing technique is shitty at best and id say Vera would drill him pretty easy...although Vera hasnt really been tested. |

NAH... No black cloud. He just drank the same Kool-aid as Rich and Matt did. He's new to the MMA scene and bought the Hype Dana sold him.
They both got dominated by the best guys that the UFC have at the weight class. Truth be told Matts the number 3 guy at 170 and has been since BJ came back.
Randy Picked
Anderson Silva over Franklin
and
GSP over Matt
Bubba dismissed him both times. Maybe he will listen next time. |

Maybe Matt Hughes should change weight classes now, because he got spanked.
Maybe Matt Hughes should get into shape next time.
Maybe Matt hughes should work on his game.

George St. Pierre is my boy! I knew he'd just kill Hughes and yet again Bubba and his non knowledge of the UFC and MMA as a whole thinking that Hughes would win. Probably never seen a match with George in it. damn newbies.
by the way Hughes will be retiring soon. one more fight on his contract. might not even go through with that last fight now. |

We already saw GSP vs Penn, and even though it was a close fight, Georges came out on top. Penn's dropping down to 155, Matt Hughes is off licking his wounds, and Georges St. Pierre is the new champ! SAY IT, BUBBA!
The best part of this is that now there has to be a third fight between these two. Although I think it will be awhile, as Matt Hughes will have to actually get in shape for a rematch. |

He wanted it more and he more skilled all around.
Matt is a limited fighter that is so good at what he does (wrestling domination) that his lack of striking was not exposed until the last 2 fights. He was exposed badly by Penn and GSP is just that well rounded that Matt had no answer.
WAR GSP, I love that guy in a non-faggot way!!! |

That is an incredibly stupid statement. Ask anyone who trains, any fighter, or any retired fighter they will all tell you that in a combat sport such as MMA that their opponent regardless of experience, skills, etc has a chance to beat them.
This are highly trained individuals with gloves designed to do nothing other than keep their knuckles from breaking.
This is MMA not football. On any given day someone can and will get beat regardless of skill sets.
GSP is a very good fighter with a very well rounded game, and possibly will have a career that mirrors Matt Hughes. It is also very possible that GSP will get beat by a far less skilled fighter in MAtt Serra, or in the rubber match with Hughes.
This is MMA gentleman and what appears to be clear on paper means very little.
Fedor is the only fighter currently that appears to be unbeatable, but WHEN he does it won't be because he isn't a good fighter or even the greatest fighter of all time. It will be due to the fact that this is a brutal contact sport that can end in a split second.
Congrats to GSP and I can't wait to see how is reign as champion unfolds he is a very exciting fighter. |

Thats one mindset I wish UFC would be pro active in attempting to change. It's a very One and Done feeling organization. You know how I feel about things, and Wandi's been Beat, Cro Cops been beat and it doesn't make them anything less than the cream of the crop. It just happens you are right. I Still believe Penn is better than Hughes and GSP, but anyone of those guys can take the other out at any time. Thats kinda what I like about top level talent. I like a good squash like anyone else , but I LOVE a great fight. |

Penn has the best Jiu Jitsu game
Hughes is physically dominant, and is the best GNP
GSP is the best combination of the 2
Who is the best fighter? Who the hell knows they are all incredible, and for now I would have to rate them (in a career sense)
Hughes
GSP
Penn
Simply due to the number of title defenses Hughes has had, but if GSP goes on a rampage beating Penn, Sanchez, and Hughes again he will absolutely take over the number 1 spot.......Same goes for Penn (although Penn is a retard if he doesn't drop to 155 and dominate)
On any given day 1 of the 3 can beat the other hence the records vs one another.
By the way Jaeger I agree which is one of the reasons I like how Pride doesn't make every single fight by their champion a tiltle defense. It allows for the best match ups without crushing a guys careers in the eyes of the noob idiots. |

It doesn't look like BJ's in a hurry to drop to 155. I'm afraid it may be a ego thing and he feels like he needs to fight GSP again.
I'll tell you what though I'm not so sure this new 155 UFC isn't the most competitive of all their weight classes. It's a polar oposite of their horrible heavyweight division. |

UFC has a very impressive
LW
WW
And if they sign 1-2 (they are in the process) more MW they will have an equally impressive MW division.
My concern is that the LHW division will soon grow stagnant due to the talent (even though it's in small numbers) are growing older.
UFC could in the next couple years have an incredible LW, WW, MW division and an absolutely horrid LHW, HW division.
This MMA stuff goes in cycles so who knows what will actually happen, but the above scenerio is how it plays out in my mind. |

It really kinda goes back to the one and done mentality.
Let me shoot you a scenario.
Wandi comes over and Crushes Chuck. By UFC standards Chuck is kinda done.
If Wandi comes over and gets Crushed by Chuck it doesn't hurt Wandi in the eyes of his fans near as much just based on how the viewers are trained to watch these things.
On their present course the UFC can't work limited deals with other fighters :( which is a real shame. I haven't seen alot of IFL but I hear they have some real good fighters. Pride of course if filled with guys. Have a rotating tourney set up and leave the belts out of the mix. Let UFC host one time, then Pride, then.......ect..... It could be HUGE once every two years or once a year. But Dana is training the newbies that once a guy loses he is done and that is bad for business. Chuck is probably the only one immune to it but who knows. |

I understand what you are saying and agree with your end result 100%, but I would suggest another path as to how the sport got there.
The problem is not with the ORGS as much as the fan base.
i.e. In Japan to challenge a person 30lbs heavier than you is seen as heroic, courageous, warrior like regardless of the outcome of the fight the smaller opponent will be seen in a very positive light. (almost more so if he loses than if he wins ala Dan Henderson)
The american noobs don't understand the sport, and thus look at it like boxing where exerience and skill = wins where as in MMA it is so violent and brutal that either fighter regardless of skill set can win in a blink of an eye.
Those who have been watching MMA since it's infancy started in a time where the sport was intended to find the best Martial Art.
i.e. Street Fighting vs Ryu Karate, Wrestling vs Sambo
In the early days we watched these tournaments and someone would win 3 fights but lose their 4th, and we would all say "Damn did you see that guys first 3 fights he was incredible, next time I bet he takes the belt" We watched the best fighters get beat, and come back the next tourney to win it.
These noobs just haven't been around long enough to see it come full circle due to the new fighting structures in the UFC.
Tim Sylvia got beat by Arlovski and everyone called him a piece of shit, but he then came back to beat Arlovski twice with little difficulty.
BJ Penn beat Hughes and everyone called him the greatest fighter to ever live, only to come back and get beat by both GSP and Matt Hughes.
Matt Hughes got beat by BJ Penn and everyone called him a wrestler that would not make it in the UFC only to come back and beat Carlos Newton, BJ Penn, Sakurai, GSP and every other #1 contender in MMA.
Tito was the greatest LHW in the world after destroying everyone in the UFC and Prides big time LHW and then went on to get beat by damn near everyone he fought for 2 years.
The idiots today see Hughes get beat 1 time and wonder if he will retire, or if he was over rated.
The dumbasses see a bunch of rookie fighters roll around in a what appears to be some form of combat on a TV show and think they are the greatest fighters to walk the earth. They don't realize they are ROOKIES, and some day will be very good fighters but only after several wins and most certainly several losses.
The idiots that have just started watching MMA have grown up with The Ultimate Fighter where it is
1. Horrible fights
2. single elimination where the fighters are booted.
This is where the problem occurs these noobs think Diego Sanchez is the greatest thing since sliced break regardless of his complete lack of technical ability due to his victories over a bunch of cans. The noobs don't know these guys are cans because they have no clue who fighters are, or what camps produce decent fighters.
The noob tools don't understand that Fedor one of the most dominant fighter can and will get beat, and this doesn't take away from his ability, skills, or legend.
I promise you Fedor will be beaten again, I promise that GSP will get smacked around like a high school wrestler, Chuck, Wandi, Henderson, Cro Cop, Tito, Hughes, Penn, Sakuraba, etc, etc, will all get beat 1, 2, 3, or more times, and it has nothing to do with them being over rated or anything else.
It's simply a combat sport.
Every fighter I know said show me a fighter with out a loss and I will show you a fighter that hasn't been in enough fights. |

I was going to ask you what your thoughts on Diego was. :)
Most feel Fedor is unbeatable. And he may be but the chances are slim of that being the case. I'm not sure Cro Cop can't take him, but thats going to be a fight ( the first Fedor loss) I'm going to enjoy because it will be a great fight.
TUF is doing as much harm as good and this last season was WEAK. As much as we like the "any given Saturday night" dream neither winner has more than a punchers chance at best.
I think the UFC is going through a transistion phase, and the one dimensional or lop sided fighter is going to have a rougher time than ever.
Most folks never seen Anderson Silva fight prior to stomping Rich Franklin. They don't even have a clue that not only is he a world class striker, his BJJ and ground game are top notch as well.
I prey to the gods that Tito takes Chuck to the mat. Yeah I'd like to see Tito win, but I'd like to see Chuck work on the mat even more. |
