I'll have to read a little more into this. This is bittersweet. I hate to see the UFC sanitize and "Dana White" another promotion.
But . Q Jackson is a really exciting fighter and will add alot to a weight division that has been held hostage by Liddell for way to long.
The HUGE pickup in my opinion was Linland. Another top level guy to beat on Rich Franklin, with the skill to put an American face and english language back to the belt .
As far as Bas goes, I'll leave my thoughts out of this and let NT , if he is so inclined, tell you how great that is. |

Hasnt Bas been around for quite awhile? good to hear it will be bittersweet, that means i will take the sweet side and run with it and let UFC/dana ruin it, if they can.....which i hope not! |

who me????lol.... Yeah, Bas Rutten is the fuckin' man. I got a chance to train with him at one of his seminars a few years ago... at the time I knew of him from his UFC fame, but didn't become a "huge" mark for Bas until that meeting inspired me to pick up as many of his fight vids as possible, all but his two UFC fights were in the Pancrase promotion in Japan and I was amazed to watch his progression through the sport, starting MMA with a strictly stand-up background consisting of TKD, kyokushin (Mas Oyama karate), and Muay Thai. It was great to see him absorb the grappling aspect like a kid in a candystore, showing more and more ground prowess with every match-up. He was just so passionate about learning all that he possible could. After proving his dominance in Pancrase, he moved onto the UFC and captured the belt after winning via decision over Kevin Randleman 99. That was his last fight up until his WFA debut this year coming out of a 7-year retirement where he TKO'd Kimo's last minute replacement, Warpath (who has an iron fucking chin, btw) with a leg lick. Honestly... Bas is the most passionate fighter/teacher I've ever seen in the sport... infact I truly believe that he's a better fighter now than he was in his "prime" as King of Pancrase and UFC champ. I'd looooove to see him going up again Chuck for the LHW title, as I think that Bas would school Chuck on his feet or on the ground, wherever the fight would go. I know that Bas has one fight left on his WFA contract, so if the UFC controls that action, I'd be really curious to see how they use him. He's still trying to repair some long-standing injuries at this point, but he seems to be pretty confident that he'll be back to 100% soon. I've actually got 2 vids on my myspace page of Bas if you want to see him in action. The first vid is a highlight reel from his Pancrase days, and the second is his entire WFA fight from a few months ago... enjoy :D click here for Bas vids... |

Rampage fights at 205.
According to MMAweekly the only confirmed contracts being purchased by UFC is Rampage and Herring. http://www.sherdog.net/forums/showthread.php?t=445538
Lindland and Bas would be great additions to the UFC but the conflict with their present contracts with the IFL make their coming to the UFC difficult. |

I'm sure it will probably take a few more days atleast for all of the specific contract aquisitions to be announced, but since Zuffa owns the WEC as well, they apparently may be sending most of the fighters to that promotion instead of the UFC.... I guess we'll have to wait and see. As far as Rampage goes... I dunno, it seems like every since he was "born-again" he's lost alot of edge and has proven to not be the threat he once was. I'm not a huge fan of Chuck, but I think that if a rematch would come about anytime real soon, Chuck would get his revenge. Also.... I have to say that when I watched the 60 minutes interview with Dana, I had to laugh at his claim to not be interested in the money, that he was simply passionate about the sport. If this was the case, I'm sure he wouldn't still be filing injunctions against every other fucking american MMA promotion. Don't be fooled, Dana is ALL about the money. He's been doing his best to squash the IFL and blackball anybody involved, yeah sure.... he's not in it for the money :ranting: |

| well shit.... it looks like Zuffa has already gone into high gear with the WFA broadcast rights... they already got all of the WFA fight clips yanked off of youtube, so the video of Bas's fight (2nd vid on my myspace) is gone now.... gotta go find something else fun to fill in there. |

NT has a bit of a man crush going there. But I can't blame him. Bas is the fing man. We have met him twice at fights and he is simply a genuinely nice person who kicks some serious ass. Bas is currently working me out on my heavy bag (ok via DVD)!
Can't wait to see another Bas fight! |

Yeah, yeah... I mark out pretty hard to Bas, but he's a hell of a guy :) ... and his heavybag workout is 2nd to none. I made some copies of it and sent it down to Bubba... hope he tried it out. It's awesome for workin' your cardio, triceps and core mostly, but you also gain alot of dexterity and power with your combinations. |
