I am in one this year and I have really gotten into it, although I don't know as much about hockey as I do football. I am in a yahoo head-to-head league and need a competitive edge. I am in 5th place in a 12-team league now. Anyone have any good strategies?

sounds like you are doing just fine

i always try and get good goalies. generally they are a large part of the scoring.

its also not a bad idea to get sharks, sabres and ducks. stay away from the flyers.

Head to head hockey is almost as good as head to head football, just the season is over 5 months. The key is to pick up backup goalies to good teams if you need one, pick up a 2nd line player who will fill in for a first line player when he gets hurt and so on. You need to grab hot free agents all the time.

Do me a favor, post your team here.....

Ok, here it is:

Centers: Joe Sakic, Eric Staal, Pavel Datsyuk, Joe Pavelski
LW: Kovalchuk, Alexander Semin, Martin Erat
RW: Chris Clark, Alexander Radulov
Defensemen: Mattias Ohlund, Filip Kuba, Shane O'Brien, Ruslan Salei

Goalies: Cristobal Huet, Nabokov, Fredrik Norrena and Tomas Vokoun(IR)

I am in a Yahoo league- 12 team H2H with these categories:
You go up against a team each 7-day period and whoever wins the most categories is technically the winner, but standings are based on overall wins and losses. My record is 63-52-15.

By the way, what the hell is FW?

I am in the same type of league, actually 4 of them and right off the bat I can see your goalies can make or break a team with the scoring cats in your league. Although your goalies are doing well, you could maybe ship one with a forward for one of the top goalies in your league, if not, make sure you play them as much as you can...

You centers seem fine, Pavelski is so so but he has been hot the past month. LW are very strong, RW is questionable, you are short here and Radulov was hot this past month but I can't see him keepingthis pace. You may need to grab a solid RW.

D looks good with Salei and Kuba as you may get better then Ohlund on the wire but dump O'Brien NOW man...You can get way better D then him.....

FW usually means faceoffs won, so start those centers as much as you can each week..........

I'm 7-4 this year - my first league. I love it. Lots of fun. I've got Sidney Crosby, and a really good team of supportig players. I'm in a tough league...

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking about picking up Tuomo Ruutu on Chicago. Should I drop Pavelski and pick him up? Are there any RW's you can suggest that are better than what I have that are likely on the waiver wire?

Thanks
