| I got the wife Sirius for XMas (got her the Xact Visor, wasnt spending a ton), this will be my 3rd Unit. I have one in my truck (Chevy S-10) with no issues and I have on in my car, also a Chevy with no issues so today is nice out so I Install it in her car, do it all the right way and there is a shitload of static, I tried the antenna in every position possible and drove around for 2 hours trying all of the FM stations that were free and they all had some kind of distorition. I am wondering if its something to do with her car (A 2005 VW Jetta), so I figured I would see if any other SFN's out there have install one in a Jetta (or any VW) and if they had the same issue or had any ideas or suggestions to try. Spent about 6 hours on it already and Im fresh out of ideas. |

The FCC has recently regulated the levels of the Wireless FM Transmitter. They are useless unless you live in a rural area.
You will need to install it with an FM Direct Adapter or Auxiliary input adapter, which will sound amazing.

That would explain it, I bought my other 2 over a year ago. With the FM Direct Adapter do I need to get behind the head unit? Doing that it my Chevy is fine but with a Foreign Car I'm lost, can a local place install that for me? |

I'm sure a lot of car install shops would love to do it. It really shouldn't be much harder with an import than a domestic. |

I am going through the same thing and I'm well pissed off about it... She has a 2005 Camry with a stereo that is equipped with RDS, (a search feature) that seems to pick up something or other on EVERY frequency.
The only way it works in my missus' car is if i use the old FM modulator wire from my original set and hold that wire in my hand...If I put it down, i lose the signal. looks like i will be buying a hardwire modulator tomorrow.
Very frustrating. |

I just got a Sirius One for $20 from the Sirius site with the free keychain, I will try that to see if any better in there, if not I will swap out my old one with the more powerful trans into her car and put the new one in my truck. |

So I watched your video and aside from the soft-core porn music, you state that the use of the tape player is a step UP from the hard wired FM transmitter?
Just want to confirm since my car has a cd & cassette deck. |

I went to Radio Shack and bought a casset adaptor (20.00) and it works great now. |

| Just wanna weigh in on this one: I had an S-50 and the FM-Modulator on that baby really put out some juice! You could hear the unit in the car next to me! This year I received the Stiletto as a gift and I was stoked. Got it all hooked up and heard 10% Sirius 90% static! So, the moral to this story is this: it's true that the FCC has cracked down on output levels of FM-Modulators and that Sirius products were SEVERELY affected. Go out and grab an FM Direct adapter for $20 and all will be right with the world once again. Oh, I almost forgot, if you have a Chevy car or truck with the stock system in it you will need to buy an adapter for the adapter! The size of the cables from your antenna are too small. It's worth the hassle though! Viva La Revolution!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
