NEW YORK (Reuters) - Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. (Nasdaq:SIRI - news) said on Tuesday it ended 2006 with 6.024 million subscribers and achieved its first quarter of positive free cash flow in the fourth quarter in line with its expectations.

:2thumbs:

Sirius had said in early December that it expected to end the year with between 5.9 million and 6.1 million customers and that after capital spending it could report free cash flow for the quarter.

Awesome.... Sirius raised their subscriber base 10x what it was last year. Can you believe this is not the main headline in every single newspaper in the country? Howard Stern single handedly (and please don't tell me Nascar and NFL and Martha fucking Stewart had a big help in this) produced 10x the amount of subscribers they had last year!!!!

If this is not a testament to Howard Stern being the ultimate radio performer to have EVER been on the airwaves, I don't know what is. The man has twice revolutionized the Radio Genre and no one gives him the fucking credit he is due. I wish I was a journalist. I hate to sound like a star fucker, but Howard Stern has done something no one has ever done in the time that I have been alive.

And why is it that the Stock Market is such a piece of shit?! They project stock prices based on what goals a company MAY or MAY NOT REACH. Here we have Sirius Radio, whose stock is in the fucking shitter, and solid proof that they have 10x the amount of subscribers in one year. No offense, but if I was a market analyst, I would ask what the fuck is wrong where a company who proves itself to go ABOVE their expectations every quarter has a stock rating of under $3 a share or whatever it is now.

Microsoft NEVER made any of it's quarterly goals. And my stock in Microsoft split 2 for 1 twice and 3 for 2 one time in the 5 years I had it. And it was almost always around $100 a share before the splits.

Anyone else find this fucking rediculous?

Patience Halycon, patience. The market is controlled by whores and they will catch on sooner or later that Sirius is for real. In the meantime lets grab as much of the undervalued stock as possible.

I have to admit, Im sure the majority of that is from howard. they might have made like 1.2mil without him....

good job howard!!

I'm in too. My only concern is what happens when Howard goes. Hopefully not in 4 years :( . I for one will keep it for the other programming, mostly the music. I can only hope that most other feel the same way.

if thats really a concern, u can just sell before then. if a merger happens the siri shareholders would benefit also

I plan to hold it for the duration, I think it is a great long term investment much like cable if you got the right companies. Just hope people don't bail after Howard leaves.

Many people will bail after he leaves... it will happen... it IS the Stern Effect... I think Ace is right... just keep an eye out and an ear out and hopefully sell a bunch before anything happens.

well 1st off let me state i own a lot of shares (but not as much as someone else here in pol) shares of siri bought from 1.80 to 5 dollars
having said this the single reason the stock price sucks is the amount of shares
before MEL came on siri diluted there shares unlike any company i have ever owned
the stock will bounce a little on this news but soon after the typical money manager games will ensue pressuring the stock again
the stock will only start to rise when we here the pres release saying
SIRI PLANS TO BUY BACK SHARES !!!!!!!!!!!!!
please mel do this
Frankly
Great news!

It's a wonderful day in space

share price is not indicative of how a company performs financially. i feel many people just dont understand that stock price is pure speculation. for a better sense you need to look at earnings per share and many other financial ratios. or maybe look at sirius's net income. until sirius starts to make more money then it spends or has a break even point in sight id expect the stock to continue to take hits. it has an accumulated deficit of 3.5 billion dollars, what is so hard to understand about that??
Billyfromsphily
So 6 million listeners at approx $150.00 equals about 900 million a year. what would that shake out to after operating expenses and debt service?
biglouie250
well its hard to tell. some costs are fixed, others are variable.
biglouie250
its also interesting to note that according to the financial statements of sirius they disclose that they may never become profitable. that is for "conservatism" but still not something i want to read about.
