no what i am saying is howard a lady on telling a story which i was totally believing and howard himself said we check her credentials,then right at the end she made the statement none of the troops had any body armour when they first went to iraq .
i then called my friend who was in on the first invasion and he laughed at her saying they all had armour ( he also said it was to heavy and to hot ) but they had some
all i was trying to point out was this chick had an agenda and if she lied about that who knows what else she lied about\
also my friend said he or no other soilders he knew had their credit cards with them
makes me wonder if her story on troops buying stuff with their credit cards from iraq was true |

but i dont think shutting down bases like crazy was a good idea and i know from 1st hand experience when you shut down bases buinesses that supply the military go out of buiness...kinda makes me wonder why we have so much trouble suppling our troops now
the point of down sizing the military puzzles me how does any one know what the next challenge our country will face
also on the missle defense it seems with iran and korea trying to nuke i feel better with all kinds of missle defense |

i know several people here in sfn believe if 911 hadnt happened we still would have gone into iraq
i am not one of thoose so we just differ on this issue
also in the military it takes time to get things troops order so they allow the troops to have their families buy things for them , and then take it off their taxes or get reimbursed |

I mean... I hear what you're saying... but this is the problem. You're taking every word so literal... She said 'all the troops'. Well, maybe she said that... but does anyone REALLY believe ALL the troops are without adequate armor/supplies? My guess would be no.... anyone stupid enough to believe ALL of our troops are ill-equipped is .... well they're just stupid, for lack of a better term.
So maybe she didn't mean all... but ALL sounds more impressive than, SOME. ALL sounds more IMMEDIATE than SOME. ALL sounds more like a crisis than SOME, even though in ACTUALITY, it is only SOME troops that are ill-equipped.
And I'm glad you're friend is properly equipped, and let them know that everyone believes your friend is a Hero... no matter what party affilliation you have or don't have... your friend is a Hero.
Try not to take the words of citizens too literal. People are subject to exaggerations, including me and the rest of the people here on this board. |

Ummm, we are almost 4 years into this war. If we do not have a process in place to get a soldier a vest or a holster in less time than it takes him or her to go on the internet, order it, and wait for it to be shipped to Iraq, we should not be there....period. |

I think if 9/11 hadn't happened...............Bush would have found another reason to send us to Iraq.....
I think it's clear Bush was going to Iraq from the minute he got into office, and he just needed a reason. OBL gave him the reason. |

heres a huge mispelling but it called beuacracy (hope that is close) i think it sucks too but honestly every war has equipment problems i am not saying i am happy about troops not having enough equipment either
on a side note i watched 2 diff companies go out of buiness 10 years ago that did nothing but stock and restock our military i just cant stop thinking how thingsmight be different now if this didnt happen |
