I see a thread for the worst. My favorites by sport (I know I will forget some).

Football: Al Michaels, John Madden, Greg Gumbel, Mike Patrick(was great when doing The NFL), Sam Rosen, Dick Enberg, Dave Jennings

Hockey: Mike Emrick, Gary Thorne, John Davidson, Bill Clement, Sam Rosen, Joe Micheletti, Howie Rose, Dave Strader

Baseball: Vin Scully, Phil Rizzuto, Gary Thorne, Joe Morgan, Gary Cohen, Bobby Murcer

Basketball and Wrestling do not count; they are not real sports!! :D
Bpalm541
Brent Musberger for football

Hahaha, I was getting to this. I wanted to get all the hate out first ;)

I am sure more people hate a lot of broadcasters then like them!!! :D

I forgot to add John Miller in baseball too!
KingOfAllWhites
I am a huge Marv Albert and Bob Costas guy.

When it comes to baseball I absolutely love Gary Cohen and Howie Rose. I think they are some of the best in the business. As a Mets fan though I might be a bit biased.

Harry Kalas !!!!

Yes sir.

I hate Brett mussburger the only good thing is that he bets the game which is cool with me.

Teddy Atlas and the other guy on Friday night fights. The guys on HBO boxing are good.

I forget the names but the guys that do the WSOP are really good.

My homeboy Troy Aikman. Anything that Erin Andrews does. Mike Patrick when he does any game beside Duke Games.
KingOfAllWhites
I also love Mussburger for his gambling talk. He is the only person who ever discusses that.
hockeyman
I like Al Michaels, if he could just get away from Madden. Mike Patrick did a good job tolerating Theisman when he was on Sunday night football. Rick Jeanneret and Mike Emerick are good for hockey. That's all I got, can't stand watching baseball or basketball.
Hey Now MoFo
Harry Kalas, Troy Aikman, Joe Buck, and the late Gene Hart. (hockey)
Apoc13
i like gary thorne but mostly because he was my best friend's brother in law for a few years...i miss sitting in the booth at mets games with them...good times
FUGLY2
I miss the days of the NBA on NBC minus Bill Walton, although hearing Costas and the rest of them goofing on him was always entertaining.
And like I said in the shitty sportscasters thread, I like Greg Gumbel a lot because he doesn't put on a persona-which is why I despise Fox NFL. It's one thing to have a guy doing schtick, but when it's a studio full of them, I find it inbearable.

Football I agree, I really like Al Michaels

Hockey- Have to go with the whole Hockey Night in Canada Team.

But John Davidson is top notch, and I heard Ed Olczyk on NBC and he's really good as well
tommyp
One answer and one answer only, Marv. He excels at football and hockey (when he used to do Rangers games), and of course is known for basketball. But who knows he also did a few Yankee games in the mid 70s?

And KOAW, as a Yankee fan, I can honestly say that Gary Cohen and Howie Rose are fantastic on Mets' games, and blow the Yanks' announcers (all of them) out of the water. You do not need to defend your fandom to praise those two.
t3eb
Football-G. Gumbel/Phil Simms
Baseball-Gary Thorne/Steve Stone
Hockey-Steve Levy/Darren Ping
Basketball-Alberts/Steve Kerr
Il Gatto
Verne Lundequist- Play by Play
Troy Aikman- Analyst
Bob Costas- In Studio

Does Hockey Night in Canada still have Bob Cole and Harry Neale doing the Leaf games? I can't imagine HNIC without those 2 guys.

Cherry has that impact, people love him or hate him no middle ground.(I'm a lover :) )

Always thought Jeremy Roenick could do a similar thing once he retires, especially on American
TV. Sorta the same kind of personality as Cherry.
kerowack
I'm a huge Ian Eagle fan. He was always great when he was subbing for a call-in show on WFAN (NY) and he's fantastic on the Nets games. He also does NFL games (I always see him on the Browns or Jets).
Saul Hudson
Ian Eagle, Mike Breen, and Marv Albert for basketball. Doug Collins is a pretty good color guy too.

One guy who I now like and I think has done a reverse jump the shark for football is Dan Dierdorf. I hated his guts when he did MNF. But, now on CBS, he never tries to be funny and he always does solid analysis. I think he's great now.
WhatRUSaying
Solomon Wilcotts is not bad for football.

They are good announcers, but the thing that bothers me about them is the way they call a goal. I want the announcer to scream just as loud for the other team as his team. That is why these two guys never make national telecasts!
