| i bought a Starmate Replay 4 for my sister for Christmas and there seems to be a problem with the FM transmitter, very bad static sound. i tried swaping my Starmate 2 into her car and vice versa and it works fine. the Replay 4 is fine with a tape adapter but she doesn't have a tape deck in her car. i'm wondering if this is a known problem with the Replay 4 or if this one just has a bad transmitter |

| Try contacting Sirius and ask for a Free FM direct Adapter. |

| All the new radios have very weak FM transmitters after the FCC crackdown. They are practically useless. |

| I know, I'm hoping my first-gen Starmate Replay lasts a long fucking time because I love the FM transmitter and I hear the new ones aren't worth crap. |

My FM transmitter on my Starmate 4 sucks too... I hooked up the FM booster, but it does not do much... I drive a company vehicle, and am not allowed to Hard-wire anything.
What is a FM direct adapter? How do you hook it up? |

| Now that you guys are paying for Sat Radio the best thing to do is to Disconnect your FM antenna from your Car Radio. I also have a company Vehicle (07' Taurus) and once took off the antenna it made a hell of a difference. |

My Starrmate Replay died, Sirius warranty sent me a Sportster 4 as replacement. I didn't know about them fucking around with the transmitter in the newer units due to FCC regulations. Now, it's totally fucking useless, even inside the house with radios less than 10 feet away. With the older generation Starmate Replay, I was able to drive down the street, with my radio still in the house, and get the signal. Now it doesn't go 10 fucking feet. :fu:
A lot of people have had good luck with this: http://www.ccrane.com/radios/fm-tra...ransmitter.aspx That's a cool piece of equipment, even for listening to your mp3 player inside the house, or police scanner over your FM radio.
Just sucks you have to spend MORE money for something you didn't have to before, not including replacing the Starmate Replay home kits that aren't compatable with the Sportster 4. |

I totally agree 3+ bones for a Stiletto and car kit and now I need even more equipment. |

They actually included this with my Sportster 4, along with a "InstallCard" for free installation. I guess that's not such a bad deal overall. Might as well take advantage of it. I ordered up the FM Transmitter fom C-Crane for my home use. |
