| still, they have the responsibilty to do it in a safe manner...the cops were saying that, in essence,she had something like "last chance for refusal" or something, meaning she could of got out of it if she wanted.....that's why no charges will probably be filed.... |

If she knew she could die from it she wouldnt have done it. She didnt know it could do harm to her and thats why she did it. I believe that is more commonly referred to as ignorance and not stupidity, there is a BIG fucking difference. The guys that held that contest are the ones that are stupid. They were told that drinking that much water could kill a person and they did it anyway, now that is stupid.
What makes me sad about the whole this is that she was just a mother that wanted to do something for her kids and ended up dying in such a tragic fashion. Obviously it wasnt tragic enough though cause assholes like gambithardy are still there to blast her and call her stupid like a cold hearted prick. Think if it was your mother and somebody called her fuckin stupid because she was trying to do something for you and died in the process. Pretty fucked up now that its put that way huh? |

| For her size, (about 130 pounds) 1 gallon could have killed her if she drank it fast enough... I dont know if you heard the audio from it but when she came back into the studio, the asshole DJs were making fun of her cause they said she looked like she was pregnant. |

| Anyone who has ever played football or any sport knows that you can get water poisoning. Thats why you need to drink Gatorade to maintain your electrolytes. I seriously doubt it was not in the waiver that it could adversely affect your health. And the people that enter those competitions aren't notorious for being the smartest people in the world either. I know I seem like an asshole and I probably am but people have to be responsible for themselves, and not sue anytime something bad happens. If you drown in your neighbors swimming pool at one am you deserved it. |

what irritated me was when they said the host took a call from a listener who said that she could die, and he laughed it off and said we have no worries she signed a waver.....

What matters is how FAST you drink the water, not necessarily the total volume. If you drink water faster than your kidneys can excrete the excess you will start to hemodilute which depresses your electrolyte levels (particularly sodium). Once your serum sodium level drops too low (called hyponatremia) you start to get all sorts of very serious problems including cerebral edema (brain swelling), convulsions and ultimately death.
Those nuthut idiots WILL be sued and they will never work in radio again. This is a tragedy that is so ridiculously preventable that it's sickening. |

The asshole zoo crew kept TELLING her that she would just puke it out and her body would save itself before she hurt herself.
That DJ boy who kept saying that on the air needs to be charged with criminal endangerment. The station needs to get their asses sued off. When the morning bimbo kept saying "can't you die from this" and they DISMISSED HER QUESTIONS? Idiots should have asked a doctor. Fuck, they should have asked a med student. |

The station's insurance company will settle this out of court. The waiver will be basically useless, it can be used as a defence tool but waivers are routinely ignored by judges unless they are signed in front of an independent lawyer.
The waivers Bubba and other DJ's get people to sign are pretty much useless. |
