I will admit that my eyes got watery in the car listening to that. I did not know that Bubba was the man who backed up Lasker at that time, I was surprsied to hear him name Bubba as the only one that stood by to help him. At that point I think Bubba was about to start balling so he deflected the topic.
You understand the relationship alot more now. I always wondered why Bubba hands out the most crap to Lasker as the others are more cautious, not wanting to anger Lasker beyond his breaking point. Now you know why. There is nothing Bubba could do that would challenge Lasker's loyalty to him, Lasker will take it from Bubba.
It doesn't get any more real than that. |

the replay will be this weekend sometime, can't relate that story again without welling up, fuckin' sad man. I have a whole new respect for Lasker, and Bubba as well for being a true friend to Gene.
I can't believe they still liquid assed him after that......the tragic part was that an innocent 47" television had to make the ultimate sacrifice...... :D |

The Ultimate Thrillbilly has a heart of gold and produces radio Gold...thats a good way to sum it up....listening to the show since it came to Sirius ive heard them reference Genes disabled daughter in passing a few times, but I had no idea what he and she have suffered through..
Also Bubbas true colors showed through (assing aside) showing what a true friend is.
Everyone came out great except for "Matt" who looked like a real cocksucker

Gene Lasker MARK here. In these days when people blame all the problems and fuck ups on someone else. Here is a guy who played the cards life dealt and won through.
I think it was NOT RADIO GOLD ta want ta Spinger someone. I could totally feel Lasker pain for my egg donor bailed on me cause of some prick. I was lucky and my Dad stepped and raised by himself back when most men would jump ship.

| For Lasker to have become what he has is a miracle in itself. He is a TRUE self-made man. His parents truly fucked up by quitting on him (though it maybe saved his life at some point). One of the lessons my mother taught me was that if there was anything she (or my father, that piece of shit) did while raising me that I didn't like or didn't agree with, that I should do it different with my children (in my case, my daughter since my wife and I cannot conceive any more). That seems to be the form that Gene's followed in his life. His father gave up on him, but he hasn't and won't give up on his daughter. He may be a redneck, he may be a heathen, but he's also a loyal DAD to his daughter and a loyal friend. He's very real and very down-to-earth. Lasker, in a nutshell, IS gold (radio, heart of, etc.). |
