| i was just wondering if this was a common problem among any other SFN ers. My piece of shit starmate takes forever to cut on and will hardly stay on. the ac adapter power cord is the problem. i have to twist it around and pull on it until the receiver lights up blue, then remove my hand ever so slightly to keep it on. My ? is, does anyone else have this problem? if so, have you ever called sirius about this and what was the result. it has been doing this for a while but it seems as if it is getting worse and i may need to get of rid of this piece of trash receiver. I think sirius is a great product with bad customer service and even worse equipment. thoughts? |

I had the same problem with my Xact XTR8CK that is almost identical to the Starmate Replay. The Xact came with both AC and vehicle power adapters with the promotion that it was portable. I moved it between car and home everyday and after 9 months, could not get power with either adapter. Searched the internet and found many cases documented of this problem with both Xact and Replay. The problem is that the power connector on the radio is so shoddy that the conducting material wears off. Xact replaced mine under warrantee. But, I suspect the replacement radio has the same issue - and also a weak FM transmitter.
I would like find some short connecters. Put one permanently on the radio and on each adapter. Then let the little connectors wear out each time the radio is disconnected/reconnected. |

Doorbell, that's a common problem with the Starmate Replay. I had to replace mine, which I didn't want to do because it was one of the first generations with the powerful FM Transmitter. But, I couldn't take the unit not turning on, or once I did manage to get it powered on, not touching the unit or bumping the power cord, because the unit would lose power.
Mine was under warranty still, so I called them in December, and they sent me a Sportster 4 as a replacement last week. Kind of funny that also today they sent me a Starmate 4 as well. I'm not sure which one is the fuck up, but I'm thinking it's the Sportster 4, which I'm keeping. |

| after being hung up on 5 times or so, i finally got in touch with the warrenty dept and they said they could do nothing for me cause my one year warrenty had expired. if you have had it a year or less you can just send it back and they will send you a new one. anyway, i finally talked to a intellegent customer service rep(sirius customer service blows). this lady was extremely nice and understanding. they are sending me a sirius sratus with car and home kit at no cost. it took some sweet talking but i think the good cust reps(like this one) know about these problems with starmate and that this happens often. my advice to you is keep calling until you get to a cool rep and then be straight with them, tell them your a valued customer, but that your starmate sucks a diznick. good luck! |

| Where can you get a replacement cord alone? I contacted sirius to buy one and of course they don't have any. What the hell!!! If you are going to be in the business of selling a piece of shit at least be able to provide the customer service to replace what breaks. My warranty is up and I allready sent it in before. If someone could post a link to a site that has cords for sale I would appreciate it. |
