The Pac-10 Conference and the NCAA are investigating whether Bush or his family broke NCAA rules and compromised his eligibility during the 2004 and '05 seasons by taking extra benefits.
If Bush is found to have violated NCAA rules, USC, which won a national title in '04 and played for the '05 championship, could be sanctioned.
Also, the Heisman Trophy Trust requires players be in good standing with the NCAA to be eligible for the award given to college football's top player. If Bush is ruled ineligible by the NCAA, he could be in danger of having his Heisman taken away.

I always thought the NCAA was two-faced.....they go ON and ON an ON about having their "student-athletes" being pure and innocent and not allowing them to have any stipend for them....
....and meanwhile, the same organization, schools and coaches are making a BOATLOAD of money from endorsements, ticket sales and TV rights off those kids back.
Big time college sports has always been about free labor.....plus I think the whole "taped evidence" and this whole mess sounds a bit fishy....just can't put my finger on it |

Mark Schlereth(or however you spell it) was on eSPN Radio yesterday about this.
Said that at times he had fish through couches for change just to eat, and he came from a family that could afford to throw him cash at times.

| From what I've heard, there's some Heisman committee that would have to vote to strip him of the award (anyone remember who finished second that year?). As for Pac-10 and natl. championships, according to ESPN, there would have to be some showing that USC knew or should have known about what was going on. I doubt that will happen. |
