USC will work their way higher as signing day nears (unless Carroll leaves the team). They only have 13 commits right now, so when they're done, they'll probably be 1 or 2. Notre Dame is only ranked so high because when players commit there, the ranking of that player goes up (guys like Lemming that are admittedly Notre Dame homers, and invite ND commits to the all star game, etc.). |

ND has pretty much got everyone they wanted....including some surprising RB's and a decommit from florida state.........hate the irish all you want but the last few recruiting classes were ranked high as fuck.......shit we took the number 1 QB right out of USC's back yard |

Not hating on ND, just telling you the facts as the rest of the world sees them. :D The fact is, the US Army HS All-Star Game players will generally become ranked very highly by merely getting an invite. Another fact is, the game is played on NBC, which as you know, has a vested interest in Notre Dame players. Add to that the fact that Tom Lemming (a BIG Notre Dame homer on rivals.com) makes most of the decisions on who plays in that game, and you have the bias in the rankings that I spoke of. Don't quote me, but I think ND had about 6 players in that game, and they all pretty much looked like shit, which is why the team they played for was boat raced. Don't get me wrong, Notre Dame is still a recruiting machine, but whatever ranking they get year after year, you could probably add 7-10 spots to that and that will give them a more accurate representation of the talent they have. The proof for you would be their performance on the field not matching their inflated recruiting rankings year after year. So they're probably in the 15-18 spot this year realistically... ;) |

Does ND always have a top ranked recruitting class?
Does not seem like it helped with many W's last year. |

You have gone to a BCS game solely b/c only 2 teams from a conference are allowed in. Wisconsin should have had your spot.
Join a conference, where you can't play Army / Navy / Air Force / Standford every year, and you're a mediocre team. |

ND wouldn't have lost more than 2 games against Ohio State's schedule (Texas & Michigan).
But Sun Devil is almost 100% accurate. Ever since the Holtz departure following the 1996 season, there has been a clear inflation of ND's recruiting ratings and an obvious disparity in the subsequent on the field performances. This has been especially evident at the skill positions.
That being said, Clausen, Allen, Gray, and the Littles are about as close to "sure things" as one can find in recruiting.
But objectively USC, LSU, Texas, Florida, and Tennessee are the clear cut top 5 2007 classes. Regarding 'nd'mark's initial list, I would, however, put ND ahead of Pitt from everything I've read. |

Army, Navy , Air Force and Stanford wouldn't have beaten Dillon Hall so those 4 don't count.
And LSU kicked your ass in that BCS bowl even if you had lost to the Kite Club. |
