With no football today :(

I usually watch a football movie to ease the withdrawals. I heard the guys on the show talking about what the best sports movie was a couple weeks ago...but what is the best/your favorite football one?

If you have another than I listed please say.

btw...Jerry Maguire is not a football movie...it's a chick flick!:hw:

How about "Won't You Come Back John Goldfarb? 1964.

WILDCATS dude.....WHAT THE FUCK??????
Billyfromsphily
How about ..All The Right Moves 1993 ?

Tom Cruise and that dead Penn brother play a couple of HS players along with Coach..Craig T Nelson.

Then You have Knute Rockne 1940

or the Maex Brothers classic

Duck Soup 1933.

Duck Soup may be the finest football film ever made!

Water boy is the highest grossing football movie of all time though.

2006 AFC Championship Game, you know, the one where Tom Brady and the Pats blew the biggest lead in history and CHOKED when it mattered the most.

Tough for me to have to choose between Brian's Song and Rudy.

The Pat's choking to the Colts on the new Colts movie of their season is the best football film out there.

The 2nd best football movie was made for TV in 1977, it was called "Something for Joey", a true story of Hiesman Trophy winner John Cappeletti and the touching relationship between his younger brother Joey, who had Luekemia.

Here is a write up from msnbc:

9. SOMETHING FOR JOEY (1977)
The story of football star John Cappelletti and his leukemia-stricken brother is so off-the-charts gut-wrenching, it would make even Dick Cheney cry. The Underdog trying to Stick It to the Man is Joey, an 11-year-old going through excruciating treatments to get to his brother John’s Penn State games on Saturdays. Just when it seems like Joey is going to get better, just as John is fulfilling his little brother’s request to score four touchdowns for him in one game, just as you feel like the happy ending is coming … well, Joey doesn’t die, but you know he’s gonna get it.

And the waterworks really open up when future Beastmaster Marc Singer, as John, accepts his Heisman Trophy, gives it to Joey, and says: “They say I’ve shown courage on the football field, but for me it’s only on the field, and only in the fall. Joey lives with pain all the time. His courage is ‘round the clock.” (Joey never saw this movie — he died in 1976, at the age of 14.) The movie has gone beyond Inspiring Real Athletes — John Cappelletti and “Something For Joey” Inspired Real People.

TAKE THAT

I agree about "Any Given Sunday", had that been in the poll it would have gotten my vote! But with the choices available I went with Friday Night Lights...There is nothing like HighSchool Football. With High school football its still about the game and not the money.
GRATEFUL DEAD

Am I the only one who thought Any Given Sunday was ok, but not that great

Yeah man...I just got done watching the DVD on my Home theatre...that movie is killer to watch on surround! I loved the part when LL puts the coke on the chicks tits and snorts it in the bathroom(you know that shit always goes on) ;)

and then tells Jamie Fox to "Kiss his Armani ass" :D

LT, Jim Brown, Dick Butkus, Johnny Unitis...lots of other cameos...some don't like that movie...but I love it!

I fucked up by leaving it out...couldn't go back and edit...but out of the rest of the choices I picked The Longest Yard.

what didn't you like about it? Like I said in my last post...I know some people don't like it..but I think the acting was really good and it's the most real football movie I've ever seen.
timdawg6
I really just didnt like that part where the guys eye came out, I know its only a little part, but to me the Football just didnt seem to realistic. But now that I think back, it is a pretty good movie.

You know what I do?

I spend the whole weekend with my girl..... this way, next weekend, when I'm not paying ANY attention to her and she starts fucking whining....I tell her "I just spent the whole last weekend with you, can't I even watch the SUPER BOWL!?" That usually stops the argument before it starts....

Thank goodness for a week without football.... I think it's important for us... it gives us an excuse to make sure super bowl weekend is clear for us if you know how to work it right
