| What Team would rank as the best of all the Super bowl winners? |
|
|
| tommyp |
1. 94 Niners
2. 78 Steelers
3. 85 Bears
4. 72 Dolphins |

If you mean a head to head game...you can't compare any of the teams of 60's- early 90's with the most recent winners...to much difference in the size, speed, and strength of the Players....
I.E. as great ateam as the 72 Dolphins or 66 Packers were..they would get crushed by even todays Cardinals.
so... I would say the 03-04 Pats.
As far as the best for their season...well the 72' Dolphins 85' Bears 89' 49ers, 78 Steelers, 66 Packers would have to be at the top. |

Either the '85 or '06 Bears ;)
Or that Niners team that won 55-10. Jeezus what a juggernaut.
But the '89 Niners did give up a total of 29 points in the playoffs; the '85 Bears only allowed 10 points in three postseason games. Their only touchdown allowed was after they had a 44-3 lead. That's the kind of dominance that no other super bowl winner, including the 72 Dolphins, can equal. |

'89 Niners were a great team, destroyed Denver in the Super Bowl IIRC.
'85 Bears gotta be #1. |

Maybe #10, if that high. |

Who had better linebackers, the '85 Bears or the '86 Giants?
Marshall/Singletary/Wilson. Backed up by Chico Rivera, soon-to-be-head-coach-of-some-team?
vs
Carson/Taylor/Banks...I know the Giants played a 3-4, but I can't remember the other one.
Anyway, tough choice, both awesome, obviously. |

| The Bears moneyline is + 200 ...its looking good to me... |

| I'm a homer '85 Bears, even though the late 80's early 90's 49ers were the best I've seen in my life. |

Most exciting SB for me was XXXVI. Rams being a 14 point favorite, nobody gave the Patriots a chance. Great finish for the Patriots 1st SB victory.
Greatest SB team in history could be argued 4ever. |

| true, but i gotta give my vote to the dolphins. i doubt we ever see another undefeated season |
|
|
| elroyjonz |
| Remember the dolphins did not play a 16 game schedule in 72'. That was still a great team. |

Giants get the nod. Gary Reasons was the fourth, backed up by Byron Hunt (probably would have been a starter on most teams in that era) and Andy Headen. |

| i neglected to mention bears backup backer #51 (butkus' number, which they still haven't retired) Jim Morrissey. He was a valuable guy in those days. |

Aikman Cowboy's.
the NFL then prevented an O from being built like this ever again, paving the way for 8-8 teams to make the playoffs...
not a fan of the team though. |

| The Bears team from the '80's won more games over five years than any other team in NFL history |

Not true my friend. 51 was retired on that rainy Halloween along with Sayers 40 |
|
|

| Oh yeah!! Well it wasn't retired when Morrissey played in the 80s anyway. |

| 89 Niners or 94 niners |
|
|
| elway0798 |
san fran 89
denver 97 ( yes I might be a little biased, but they were 12 point dogs and beat the defending champs GB )
and even tho they were a flash in the pan SB winner Tampa rolled the Raiders |

After Losing two, they just couldn't get past the NFC North |

| 85 bears , that defense was just to damn good |
|
|
| StumpMerrill |
I would rate them:
1. Chicago '85
2. SF '89
3. SF '84
4. Pitt '78
5. Miami '73 |
|
|
| Shocker54 |
| 2 years before I was born but watching a video on them. No doubt 85 bears. |

06 (or it is 07) colts.
Sorry, just my opinion. |

Agreed!
Noone else has the balls to guarentee victory like Joe Willy!

J-E-T-S,JETSJETSJETS!!! | I'll agree to that also. But right there next to it was the 97 broncos 12 point dogs to Favre and the defending champs GB. And lets not forget the 13 years of the afc getting their ass's handed to the each SB. And Elway and his previous SB's weren't so pretty.
I think a lot of America was pullin for #7, but deep down thought GB was gonna walk over them. |

| 06 colts. They found ways to win, not pretty ways, but ways |
|
|
| Ultra Warrior |
| '92 Cowboys. They'd give any team that's been listed a run for their money. Oh & for the record, anyone listing ANY Patriots team should have his head caved in with a sledge hammer because you a clearly a fucking moron. |
|
|
| elroyjonz |
| 04 Patriots, and for the record anybody picking the gayboys has to have his head examined. |

Aikman's offence was the greatest ever. even the O-line are still household names amongst colleagues.
They forced the NFL to rewrite the rules to make it more fair for other teams.
overall, can't go against the 1st or 2nd Steelers SB winners. |
|
|
| StumpMerrill |
The '92 Cowboys were a great team but i don't think they could beat any of the top 5 I mentioned.
Whoever is mentioning Iny this year hasn't watched football for very long, Indy is one of the worst SB Champs ever.
As for the '68 Jets, I am a Jet fan but that team isn't clsoe to best of all time though I do think they are underrated b/c they were such huge underdogs. Obviosuly the AFL was still a bit of an unknown back then and bal dominated the NFL so they made them a huge fave but that Jet team was alot better than people give them credit for but still not in the discussion for best of all time. |

I'd go w/ SF '89 for best O ever.
QB: Edge SF
RB: Edge Dal
WRs: Edge SF(Rice better than Irvin, Taylor better
than Harper)
TE: even
OL: Even
Montana was ALOT better than Aikman and Rice was the
best player on either team so the edge goes to SF '89.
Not to mention SF '89 led the NFL in points
scored(442) while Dal '92 was 2nd in the NFL(409). |
