Professor Ole Danbolt Mjos
Chairman,
Norwegian Nobel Institute
Henrik Ibsens Gate 51
NO-0255
Oslo, Norway
Dear Dr. Mjos:
Landmark Legal Foundation herewith submits the name of Rush Limbaugh as
an unsolicited nomination for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.
We are offering this nomination for Mr. Limbaugh's nearly two decades
of tireless efforts to promote liberty, equality and opportunity for all
mankind, regardless of race, creed, economic stratum or national origin. We
fervently believe that these are the only real cornerstones of just and
lasting peace throughout the world.
Rush Limbaugh is a nationally syndicated radio talk show host in the
United States and one of the most popular broadcasters in the world. His
daily radio show is heard on more than 600 radio stations in the United
States and around the world. For 18 years he has used his show to become
the foremost advocate for freedom and democracy in the world today.
Everyday he gives voice to the values of democratic governance, individual
opportunity and the just, equal application of the rule of law -- and it is
fitting the Nobel Committee recognize the power of these ideals to build a
truly peaceful world for future generations.
Thank you for your thoughtful and serious consideration of this
nomination. Should you require additional information, please don't
hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Mark R. Levin
President |
Quote: LEESBURG, Va., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Landmark Legal
Foundation today nominated nationally syndicated radio talk show host Rush
Limbaugh for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.
Limbaugh, whose daily radio show is heard by more than 20 million
people on more than 600 radio stations in the United States and around the
world, was nominated for the prestigious award for his "nearly two decades
of tireless efforts to promote liberty, equality and opportunity for all
humankind, regardless of race, creed, economic stratum or national origin.
These are the only real cornerstones of just and lasting peace throughout
the world," said Landmark President Mark R. Levin.
"Rush Limbaugh is the foremost advocate for freedom and democracy in
the world today," explained Levin. "Everyday he gives voice to the values
of democratic governance, individual opportunity and the just, equal
application of the rule of law -- and it is fitting that the Nobel
Committee recognize the power of these ideals to build a truly peaceful
world for future generations."
The Nobel Peace Prize, which is given by a committee of the Norwegian
Storting (the Norwegian Parliament), was created by inventor Alfred Nobel
in his will in 1896 to be given to the individual or organization who
"shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations,
for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding of
peace congresses." The first Nobel Peace Prize was awarded in 1901 to Henry
Dunant and Frederic Passy.
Should Limbaugh become the 2007 Nobel Laureate for Peace, he will
receive the Nobel Peace Prize medal and a cash award of $10 million
Norwegian Kroner (approximately $1.6 million). The prize would be presented
at a ceremony in the Oslo City Hall presided over by King Harald V and
Queen Sonja of Norway on December 10, 2007, the anniversary of Alfred
Nobel's death. As the 2007 Nobel Laureate for Peace, Limbaugh would deliver
the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Lecture at that ceremony.
Founded in 1976, Landmark Legal Foundation is the leading conservative
public interest law firm in the United States. Rush Limbaugh serves as an
unpaid member of Landmark's Board of Advisors. |

7. Former advisers appointed by the Norwegian Nobel Institute.
The Nobel Peace Prize may also be awarded to institutions and associations. |
Rush doesn't do anything except sit behind a microphone and talk. Now, let's compare that to an actual Nobel Peace Prize recipient, the humanitarian group Doctors Without Borders, whose organization received the award in 1999. These are people who go to countries where others won't, to bring medical aid and comfort to those who have none, traveling to some of the most dangerous parts of the world. Let's see Rush do that. Oh that's right, he doesn't. He's too busy sitting on his keister flapping his gums. So if you would like to learn more about a REAL Nobel Peace Prize recipient, here's their website:
http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org This is the US based group's website, as the organization has similar groups all over the world.
http://www.doctorswithoutborders.or.../10-15-1999.cfm The press release announcement stating the group being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
Rush for the Nobel??? HA!!! That would be an insult to the Nobel organization to even consider him, much less coming from an unsolicited nomination. More of a joke really. |

Levin should have nominated Rush for the "Artie Lange Numbskull Prize" which honors bloated drug addicts.

"Rush Limbaugh serves as an unpaid member of Landmark's Board of Advisors."

This is the very last sentence from the article. Do ya think Landmark is just tryin to swell that already bloated, drugged up head of his anymore? I can't believe I just saw that now. They probably thought it would make good publicity for him so Rush could talk about it on his useless show. |

He's not worthy of this, even if it's true.
I'd nominate Michelle Malkin or Bill O'Reilly before Rush. |

This is clearly the work of Mark Levin, and I think it's funny.
They don't expect Limbaugh to win. It's a gag. But it will be funny to see how hypocritical and biased the entire process is.
Why is Limbaugh's work any less valuable, whether you agree or not, than that wind bag Al Gore? He was nominated by a bunch of leftist Europeans.
The nobel price is a ridiculous joke. |

Let's look at some of the past winners and see why it is ridiculous to even mention Rush Limpdick's name in the same breath as any of these people and organisations.

The prize was awarded to:
KIM DAE JUNG for his work for democracy and human rights in South Korea and in East Asia in general, and for peace and reconciliation with North Korea in particular.1984
1999
The prize was awarded to:
DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS (MÉDECINS SANS FRONTIÈRES), Brussels, Belgium.
1997

Are write-in's actually counted in an official count? I mean, if everybody voted for Howard Stern for president even though he was not officially running, and he won the majority of the votes... even though he was written in..... would they declare Howard Stern the 44th President? |

| I agree he should "DUDE" ....his credibility on every issue that came up in 2000 (not to mention Iraq) has proven correct while Dumb-ya has driven the country into the ground, trashed our reputation internationally, and single handedly helped requirement for every Islamic terrorist group on the map ..quite a resume ..but then again, what should we expect from a guy who didn't HAVE a resume until age 40, couldn't find oil in Texas and played tiddlywinks in the Austin Statehouse for 6 years ... |

Since you asked:
President Clinton’s FY2001 Climate Change Budget
| Quote: The greatest environmental challenge of the new century is global warming . . . If we fail to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases, deadly heat waves and droughts will become more frequent, coastal areas will flood, and economies will be disrupted. That is going to happen, unless we act. Many people . . . still believe you cannot cut greenhouse gas emissions without slowing economic growth. In the Industrial Age that may well have been true. But in this digital economy, it is not true anymore. New technologies make it possible to cut harmful emissions and provide even more growth." |
| Quote: Meeting the Challenge of Global Warming. Against a backdrop of growing scientific consensus that the Earth is warming -- and that human activities are at least partly to blame -- President Clinton’s FY 2001 budget is proposing over $2.4 billion (a more than 40 percent increase over FY 2000 enacted levels) in funding to combat global climate change. This includes a series of new initiatives, such as accelerated efforts to develop clean energy sources both at home and abroad and a new Clean Air Partnership Fund to boost state and local efforts to reduce greenhouse gases and air pollution, as well as a five-year package of tax incentives to spur clean energy technologies and increased investment for R&D in energy efficient technology and renewable energy. In addition, the President is proposing more than $1.7 billion for global change research, for a total package for FY 2001 of over $4 billion. |
| Quote: International Clean Energy Initiative. To help accelerate the development and deployment of clean energy technologies around the world, President Clinton is proposing $200 million this year (more than a 100 percent increase over FY 2000 enacted levels) for a multi-agency initiative to encourage open competitive markets; remove market barriers in developing countries to clean energy technologies; and to provide new incentives for clean energy technology innovation and export. The initiative will promote U.S. clean energy exports, create high-value jobs, and assist developing countries in fighting air pollution and climate change. |
And many more initiatives in the link. Bush has done exactly dick. |
