ON THE NEXT FERRALL SHOW:
IS THERE ANYTHING BETTER THAN WHEN PITCHERS AND CATCHERS START REPORTING FOR SPRING TRAINING IN THE CACTUS AND GRAPEFRUIT LEAGUES ? AHH, IT MEANS SPRING IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER DOING PUSH-UPS AND BASEBALL BATS WILL BE CRACKLING. THE OLDER WE GET THE MORE THE GAME SEEMS TO MEAN TO US. BASEBALL HAS A WAY OF DEFINING US. NEVER IS IT MORE OBVIOUS THAN IN NEW YORK. WE'RE STARING DOWN THE BARREL OF A SNOWSTORM OF AT LEAST A FOOT OF SNOW, BUT AT LEAST THE YANKEES AND METS FINISHED ONE-TWO IN WINS LAST SEASON. THEY LOVE BASEBALL MORE IN THE BIG APPLE THAN ANYWHERE. THAT'S RIGHT, MORE THAN CHICAGO AND BOSTON--EVEN YOU ATLANTA ! THE DODGERS AND SF GIANTS CERTAINLY MATTER, BUT NOTHING COMES CLOSE TO THE PASSION OF THE GAME THAT NY/NJ DISPLAYS FOR THEIR TWO TEAMS. ST. LOUIS IS GREAT, BUT IT AIN'T NEW YORK. YOU SIMPLY WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND UNLESS YOU ACTUALLY LIVED HERE AND WERE EXPOSED TO IT. FERRALL'S WORKED IN EVERY MAJOR LEAGUE CITY TWICE AND HE STILL FEELS NOTHING COMPARES TO YANKEE STADIUM. REMEMBER, BOTH CLUBS ARE BUILDING NEW STADIUMS IN THE BRONX AND QUEENS--AND THE 08 ALL STAR GAME IS IN BASEBALL'S HOME OFFICE OFF RIVER AVE, NEAR STANS ! THE BOOGIE DOWN BRONX IS UNEQUALED BY IT'S PEERS, AND MUST GO OUT IN STYLE ! LET US BEGIN THE RITUAL THAT IS BASEBALL THIS WEEK ON THE FERRALL SHOW ON HOWARD 101.
