Scottie Pippen is serious about making an NBA comeback.

Pippen, 41, hasn't played since February 2004, when a left knee injury forced him to retire. But he told reporters Thursday that he wants to return, hopefully to a contender that could make use of his experience in a playoff run.

He said he's in good shape, his knee is fine and he'd even be willing to sign a 10-day contract to prove what he can do.

"I'm not going to be a nonstop high-flyer like I was in my prime," Pippen said. "But I can still run. I can still dunk. But most of all, I know the game."

Pippen is in Las Vegas, where he will take part in the Shooting Stars contest during NBA All-Star weekend. Bulls guard Ben Gordon and Candice Dupree of the WNBA's Chicago Sky will be Pippen's teammates in the contest.

"I'm thinking of trying to come back for the playoffs," Pippen said. "Something like the last two months of the season, somewhere I can come back and play limited minutes to start, play point forward for someone and build toward the playoffs. It's something I've been thinking about for the last three months."

Pippen said he'd like to eventually become an NBA coach and would be willing to apprentice as an assistant as well.

''But I'd like to play first," he said. "I feel I still have a year and a half of basketball left in me if I'm put in the right situation. I'd even be willing to sign a 10-day contract. At least that would be a start. I just want a chance to show that I can still help a team.''

I'd like to officially declare that I would like to be on a contender for the last 2 months of the season as well.
RLM6370
So the rumors are he'll go to the Spurs or Heat

As a Heat fan if Scottie can play defense he'll be a great fit
guinness6
Good for him. Lets see him play...

How is he going to feel when he doesn't have sterters minutes, though?

Seriously. The number of players that just want to jump on a contending team to get a ring is getting ridiculous. The worst is Gary Payton. I can't believe he got a ring playing for the Heat.
Billyfromsphily
Will he pay the team for the pleasure of playing?

its not gonna happen Pip

just sign Rodman or Mahorn or Laimbeer to be on another contender.

Pip was terrified by Dennis and the Bad Boys and would fake a migraine or pup out early in their key battles.

until one day, Jordan was able to singlehandedly take his team above the Pistons. and little Pip never had a headache again.

when Michael retired, SP won nothing.

in a key playoff game against the Knicks, in the final seconds, during a timeout the play wasn't designed for SP to take the last shot.

so...

he went and sat on the bench and refused to take the court again. the team had to scramble to get a replacement.

you were truly one of a kind, Mr. Pippen.

well, maybe in fairness Phil just said "give Michael the ball", forgetting he had retired.

that's all the Bulls plays were designed to do during the 6 years anyways.

thank you.

i desparately needed that laugh this morning!!!

must have been that Triangle O that genius Phil designed.

you just give MJ the ball and 2 teammates had the best seat in the house to complete the triangle.

i guess unless players were standing on each other's shoulders, like a circus act, there was always a plausible triangle on the court at any time.

and then MJ did it again...

Anything he can do to mimic Jordan.

Rapist cunt.

the biggest load that made a life off of MJ was GM Krause.

thanks to Portland (i think) taking Sam Bowie (as in bababooey) 2nd in the draft, ahead of MJ.

that was a testament to how much of a controlling and overrated FPOS that Dean Smith was with the talent in his hands, refusing to let a Michael-led team play at 1/3 it's potential.

and no, MJ wasn't a great player on the Heel NC. James Worthy was the man on that one.

I like this Canuck.
sorabji_66
just thinking about those days.

i was a huge Celtics fan through the Cowens/White/Hondo and Bird era, but MJ during his final 3 titles was the greatest player I ever saw.

his air game turned into the deadliest clutch shooter and it was a privilege watching all 82 reg and playoff games with him and Rodman (in his role) showing what could be done out there.

and look out for the Raptors over the next few years (knock on wood...)

Say what you want about Gary but he did hit 2 of the biggest shots in the championship series

I actually rethought my original opinion. If Pip could play 12-15 min. strictly defensive stopper type deal ala Bruce Bowen, he might be worth taking a 4 month flier on ...

no.
sorabji_66
just saw Pippen's comments ripping into Michael in the NYT.

not only is he a quitter and a crybaby, but he's delusional.

Scottie can go play for the local LOONEY BIN when he's committed for his own sanity's sake.

what a FPOS he is!!!
jerryjr99
dang pretty cool
