This is not good for the Yankees.

To say they have a iaverage pitching staff w/o Clemens is an understatement.

HOUSTON -- Seven-time Cy Young winner Roger Clemens has given himself just a 20 percent chance of returning to the mound next season.

"Koby [his son] asked me last night when we were working out, he was doing more of a workout than I was," Clemens, 44, told Houston television station KRIV-TV in an interview on Thursday.

"I still told him 80-20 that I wasn't going to play.

"We get little notes at my foundation about people saying they wish I would make up my mind and decide because I am leaving people hanging. I'm not leaving anybody hanging.

"I don't want to play," added Clemens.

If Clemens, one of just four major league pitchers to record more than 4,000 strikeouts, does return for a 24th season, it probably will be back with his hometown Houston Astros or with another of his former teams, the Boston Red Sox or New York Yankees. The right-hander was part of two World Series championship teams during a five-year stint with the Yankees from 1999-2003.

With the Astros the last two seasons, he got to spend time on the field with Koby, his son, an Astros minor leaguer. The Rocket didn't have to always be with the major league team on days he didn't pitch.

"The teams that are involved, I think they've got really good clubs that are together, and if somebody stubs their toe and my phone rings in May, I might have to think about it," Clemens told KRIV.

I still think he comes back and it won't be for the Yankees or Astros, but he finishes it out in Beantown.

nuge has been jerking off to the thought of Clemans coming back to the Yanks for weeks now.
AcquiringSignal
20% coming back in the begining of the season ;)

He will play the second half of the season. I'd say for the Red Sox.

HOUSTON -- Seven-time Cy Young winner Roger Clemens has given himself just a 20 percent chance of returning to the mound next season with 19% of that 20% in favor of the Yankees.

The thing that is the clue is, "if somebody stubs their toe" which is a direct jab at Provano, thus, Clemens in hinting that he plans on coming to the Yanks in June or so...

And Case, you will be wishing you had another pitcher come the trade deadline son, you watch.................Theo stood by last year with a dildo up his ass and he FUCKED the Sox and their fans by not making any moves and now he is OVER spending trying to make up for it. The moves Cash made at the trading deadline blew the Yanks to first and allowed the sox to free fall to 8th in the AL....
Apoc13
i think clemens meant that he would play 20% of the season.....for 20,000% of what he should be paid

What a moron to actually buy into this... Isnt this coming from a guy who after a World Series game a few years ago said he was 99% sure he wasnt going to come back??? I saw this report about what he said and just flipped the channel.. Its funny how some of you Yankee bashers are buying into any little thing you can that looks bad for the Yanks.... I will tell you this... I am PRAYING for the Yankees pitching staff to be average, cause with their ridiculous offense, average will be good enough.. but to be honest, the staff they have this year has been their best in years and they still have managed to win the division year after year.. Yankee bashers wont have much to bash this year

He'll come back after the league is done testing for roids. What an ass he is, making comments like that.

OMG, I actually agree with you on something... You are right, Clemens looks like an ass everytime he says this stupid % bullshit... But, I didnt know the testing stopped during the year?? Is that a stupid ass comment from you, or do they in fact stop testing during the year??
otherone4life
what a load of horseshit ...he'll slowly backtrack, start working out again, then sign with the Stros for another 15 mil to pitch from july to oct.

Have you learned anything since the Yankees won their last WS in 2000?

Pitching is what wins championships, NOT ridiculous offense!

You can have the best offense in the world, but good pitching will beat it EVERYTIME.

Lets look at the last few WS Champions and see what they have in common:

St Louis Cardinals
Chicago White Sox
Boston Red Sox
Florida Marlins

They all had UNBELIEVABLE pitching in the playoffs!

If you think average pitching and great offense will win a world series.......

well then you will be ring less again in 2007.
elricsi
Balance wins championships. I would argue all those teams won because their offense was better in the playoffs than their opponents and I would be just as right.

This is a negotiating ploy by Clemens. He is saying if you want to make me look stupid for saying this then you have to pay.

If Roger wants a ring and wants to ensure his wish to go into the Hall of Fame as a Yankee, then he will be pitching for the Yanks this summer...................
jr1074
He will sign with Houston if he comes back. It will not matter to him if Houston is in contention or not. He wants the chance to play in a game with his son.

fuck him, he's a selfish bastard

If you watched any games you would see it had nothing to do with offense.

Ask any GM, Scout, or anybody who follows the game on a long term basis. It comes down to pitching, each and every year!

Yeah, the Marlins has a better offense then the Yankees in 2003!
A.Lang=Crazy
Clemens will come back thats not the question. THe question is what team and right now I say the Yankees. Remember the world series vs. the Marlins when he daid there was a 1% chance he would return. The guy can't stay away from baseball and will pitch again this season. If we goes to the Yankees he will help the rotation, but don't count on him to be the ace. Going to the al I guarantee Clemens won't dominate like he did in the nl.
