I watched it ...

After Stark's call to Ferrall ...

I was definitely pulling for Stark ...

and ...

For what it's worth ...

Stark won ...

I can't imagine a scorecard that had Stark winning ONLY 4 rounds ...

(unless body punches don't count ... )

maybe I'm crazy ..........

but this fight was one of the worst decisions I've seen ...

Opinions???

don't have showtime but was and am looking forward to catching this fight on a replay... was teh only competitive fight as far as lines this weekend... didn't hear stark on ferrall but both guys are active, entertaining fighters and a lot was expected of this fight.. reports I've read has agreed that it was a controversial decision but that it lived up to the expectations...

accounts say it was a great fight though... shame about the decision..

Apologies for not posting the thread as a "Spoiler" ... (I'm still tryin' to be vague as if you guys don't know the final decision ...)

But I'm guessin' you guys know the outcome ...

Anyway, I planned to post my thoughts on this fight ...

but I hope you guys get a chance to see the fight and offer your opinions first ...

and ...

I took a quick look around to find a replay that's not on Showtime ... no luck yet ...

no problem.. once a fight airs on the east coast, it's fair game on the forums... would love to hear what you thought... like I said, this was definitely the most competitive fight on paper going into this weekend... HBO's triple header tomorrow doesn't offer much outside of possible prop bets.. did hit the over tonight on verno/sanchez (verno survived a scare there, was a -1600 fav)...

but from what I've read about oliver/starks, was the type of fight that should bolster both their careers... hopefully one of my boys will hook me up with some tape or some kind soul youtubes it..

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I bet my cyber brunette wife on powell winning tonight... thought it would be a lay-up at -240.. sweated out a 97-92 roulette decision... I question my handicappping abilities affer that one.. I lirerally bet the zook estate..

Congrats ...

I wasn't so sure it was a close fight either and then I started wondering if Smith might squeak through with a decision ... In my opinion, Smith's inactivity at the start of the fight and during the first part of many rounds worked against him on the scorecards ... I had to agree with Lennox & Max in saying that, because Smith never got his lead foot to the outside, he couldn't get to work ...

Also, I was thinking Smith would lean into a Powell uppercut eventually ... I hafta confess that I wasn't a fan of Smith's extreme body angle and "drooping" left hand ... He seemed to make it work, proving (once again) that I know less about boxing than I like to think ...

*******

As for Malignaggi ...

I like him ...
Unlike so many fans, I actually REALLY like a fighter who uses the entire ring with awesome footwork and a fighter who's strategy works off of the scorecards ...
I know that some people call that boring, but I think there's a certain risk involved in planning to go the full 10 or 12 rounds ...

A fighter like that CANNOT slack at all ...

One thing I did question was his right hand, and not necessarily due to the injuries ... Malignaggi appears to me as a much easier target when he loads up for it ... maybe it's a little too "looping?" or maybe it's just a noticeable contrast to his "usual" hand-speed ...

I missed his fight with Cotto and I hafta go back and check that out ...

How do you guys feel about his potential match-up with Hatton? It could be that Paulie beats Hatton but he'll really need to jab/double jab and step out and run a marathon to constantly reset his angles ... (i.e. the type of fight that many fans hate ...)

I missed this fight. Gonna have to check it out. Also bernard hopkins/winky wright just got setup for july.
