| Well, what do you think? |

| Oral and Anal are gone from XM, but who really gives a shit. |
| TheNacho |
I dont get how this affects us the consumer? I saw something about being able to get alacarte channels - but who gives a shit. All of XM's channels suck anyway, why the fuck would I want to subscribe to ANY of them?

I like to think of Jesus like with giant eagles wings, and singin' lead vocals for Lynyrd Skynyrd with like an angel band and I'm in the front row and I'm hammered drunk! |

| I am pissed that Mel is just CEO and the douche from XM is going to be Chairman. Why the fuck would Mel do this? We were killing XM!!! I swear to God, if they fire Bubba, I'm leaving with him. |

| Clownpuncher |
| I think it is going to suck. Subscription prices are bound to go up to cover acquisition costs, content will be consolidated and I doubt that they will only keep Sirius music channels which sucks because XM's aren't any good (i have it on Directv so I have heard them). Also, in my opinion, for the FCC to approve the merger I am sure they will want some form of say in programing (censorship). They have been bitching about it since Howard made the switch using the uncensored moniker and now they have a way in to get what they want. I would be surprised if there weren't stipulations to the merger. Also, do they have enough bandwidth to keep all original programming? If not, what goes? Anyway, needless to say, I am skeptical. I think they should have waited another 6-12 months when sirius subscriptions pass xm and then they could have just taken them over instead of a merger of equals. |
| Chronicbkottond |
| THERE IS too much shit going on tooday for anything to be confermed!!! BUT sirius tag is not going anywhere!! |
| ScottDahl |
| they should scrap XM and just take BaseBall. |
| CenturionGuy |
| They probably had to merge due to some obscure government regulation...In any case, I think that the only downside will be increased subscription prices....May be time to look into that lifetime subscription now.....I don't think Bubba has anything to worry about, the merger should actually do wonders to drive his popularity |
| Jimbag1 |
| As long as Sirius gets baseball & keps Bubba, I don't care |
| dlynx |
| I think they will keep both brands, at least for the beginning.... Eventually I see a combined service, and two tiers of service... Say XM is basic commercial free radio service, news, etc for a $10-12 fee. If you want the premiere content (sports coverage, howard etc), you end up paying an additional $2-3 bucks a month. |

| at first it will probably be weird and maybe a pain the ass, but in the long run it should be a good thing |

| I just got off the phone with sirius custome care and they handed out a 800 number to hear the replay of the deal. I tried to call the bubba show but like always its busy but i can post the number if any one cares |
| NuclearMisfit |
| They should hire Opie and Anthony then fire them out of a cannon into a brick wall. :D :D :D :D |
| soIsezto'emIsez |
I'm most concerned about what content will be done away with. but also kind of exciteed about what might be added.
I'm also wondering if they'll jack up the prices now that there's no competition (like cable TV).
All told, as long as they don't get rid of btls or Howard and don't fuck us TOO much on the other stuff, I'm fine with it. |
| brokenspine |
| the only thing i want to know will we have to buy new radios if we do that fucking blows I have already paid a grand for the units i have i don't want to buy new ones. |
| raking12345 |
| I am anxious to see what happens to those contracts coming up for renegotiations. There will be a lot of on air personalities looking for a piece of the action. Those with the most on-air power, thought, and fellowship will be in good shape. Bubba has an original on air personality; and with his menagerie will sustain him through the future. Those at XM will be in trouble when they have to go up against such forces that are compiled at Howard 100 & 101. :present: |
| Bryan Miller |
| WTF, why is Tim being a cock, we want to talk about the merger. |
| AzMegladon |
| No shit, our only source to get any info, or a fucking opinion and he says not to talk about it, most likely wants to save the talk for Howards show no doubt, what a douche bag. |
| Double Rattler |
| mlb get rid of the rest, all their(xm) radio sucks big gapping midget ass. |
| ermose2002 |
| i really hope that they will not raise subscription costs, frankly i could care less about xm at all and would not want to listen to it at all. I used to have xm then i switched to sirius because of howard and i would never get xm again. |
| ripstoke |
| i hope the music stations won't have commercials since xm's have and sirius don't that will be interesting to see. |
| NuclearMisfit |
| What if Sirius bought out and finally crushed XM and has Bubba muzzled on the deal because they dont want mass hysteria and people returning XM units until they figure out what they are going to do with XM. |
| bk0 |
| It's still far from a finished deal. As recently as a month or two ago the chairman of the FCC flatly said that they would NOT approve an XM/Sirius merger deal because of monopoly concerns. I think there's probably at least a 50/50 chance that this deal will fall through because regulators won't get behind it. |

Yes their is an 800# but also you can hear the live conference call tomorrow (Tues. 2/20) on Sirius channel 122 at 8:30 am EST. It will also be archived on Sirius.com if you miss it. :bigthink: |

| I think it's a good idea. Both companies were losing money.I hope there aren't too many changes but I don't think subscribers on either side will be totally happy with all the details. |
| sternowitz |
| This merger is only good for the execs and some shareholders, the only thing consumers can look forward to is higher subscription rates |
| jay stone |
well they wanted MLB so they will probably keep that and dump the rest of XM
keep the sat's and repeaters and lease out the remaining content space to smaller companies/stations..IF the deal gets approved at all..If they do it this way the deal will likely go thru.. |
| TopContender |
It sounds like Sirius bought XM for the car contracts, and the sports programming. Outside that they can 86 XM and be the only show in town.
As for censorship, I think it will be a cold day in hell before we get censorship on a subscription service. |
| RLM6370 |
I have a lifetime subscription and don't want to pay any more money.
All want from XM is MLB and that's all |
| ermose2002 |
| frankly i dont see any changes happening anytime soon, various articles that i have read said that it could take up to a year for the fcc to approve this if they even do. my opinion i dont want this because xm sucks and i would have rather watched sirius barry xm. |
| mega shmega |
| Bubba is safe, everyone on HOWARDS channels are safe there will be no change. |
| JustRob |
Well I would say the it could be a shitty move. Competition drives sales...and a better end product... atleast from my experience. the Company I work for bought up all of its major competiors and it actially put a slump on sales its take 6 years to dig out and now the "brand" that we bought is keeping us a float...
XM was never a consideration for me so I could give 2 shits about it...but it would piss me off if they raise the sub cost...
$13 bucks to listen to Bubba call X-pac an idiot over and over and over sometimes makes me wonder...then I just change to one of the other channels and I remember why I love Sirius... |

| From what I have been reading it seems that the two companies have been considering merging for quite some time and got serious at the beginning of the year. I wonder if the talks went as far back as when Ned called XM and they kept Bubba from playing it. |

I may be just a selfish little fanboy, but thats alright I have every right to be... There's only 1 show from XM that I'd LOVE to see on Howard's channels and thats the Monsters on ch. 152. Only if they totally moved to the satellite radio medium though... Not if they stayed with that simulcast pussy boy bullshit.
Let Double Dizzy and B-Beansy work their magic unedited... :D Besides... its not like they don't know anyone @ sirius. Jay Clark is ONLY the VP of programming and they know that afternoon guy pretty well. |

Everyone forgets that just because Sirius and XM say they are going to merge doesnt it's going to happen. Let's talk about the 9-12 months where it'll get all wrapped up in the FCC and other government bullshit and then get struck down.
Remember when Dish Network and DirectTV tried to merge and the gov't wouldn't let them. Same thing will happen here. A year from now we'll still be talking about XM and Sirius as separate companies.
Carry on . . . .

Bubba is a lock. He really is an innovator and who else is there? But there might be a problem with the CIA trying to shut down the show because of Brent's searing exposés of government conspiracies. He really is a genius that Brent. Who would have thought that the 911 hijackers were actually Illegal Aliens trying to sneak into New York. (missed Ellis Island by that much...)

Damn. That sucks. |

| I think it's awesome. I have subscriptions to both. XM has ACC sports, Sirius has everything else. I use the same antennae for both services, so I don't think the integration in new receivers will be easy to do. I'm just glad that Sirius is buying XM instead of the other way around. |

Truth be told, Neither is "buying" neither. Its a merger of equals, They're retaining the Sirius name though. |

| Merger is just a nice way of saying bought out. Merger of equals is a way to save face for XM and keep the employees from worrying too much. |

| I don't think that we have anything to worry about. Sirius definatly has a better product, higher quality talent Howard, Bubba, Ferral, Maxim, and yes Cosmo and Martha, Nascar, NFL, NHL, just to name a few. All XM really has is MLB, so in the end, I think we as Sirius subsrcibers don't have anything to worry about, we are already using a very solid proven product. In the end it's the XM subscribers that should be happy that their company product was so damn shitty, they stand to gain the most. Just so long as they stick with the Sirius hardware, I mean have you ever heard XM?? it sounds like they broadcast everything from a damn tin-can. Sure would have been nice to see XM go tits up though, I think Sirius could have destroyed them in the end. Word is getting around really fast about how brutal XM really is. |

Yeah, but I think RRR is dedicated to his Orlando audience. He wouldn't come to Sirius. Besides he doesn't make any money from XM. It's just Clear channel putting them on Xm for content and getting away with not paying for talent. Oh.... and dont forget the wHOOP ASS!! |

This is certain to be bad news from a subscription cost point of view.
If it allows XM managing control, it'll be even worse than that.
No matter how they play the business game...
I Ain't Mark'n Out for Snoop Phuck'n Dog ...Ever!
...and No -- thank you very much -- but I am not interested in adding any XM channels to my subscription now or ever and I am not interested in 30 days free trial, please just Piss Off.

If you need a PNG icon of the Merger find it there. :hw:
I suspect you may not need it for quite some time, however. As has been pointed out these things take a long time and it may not happen. Only businessmen can really understand what the hell any of it means. And i suspect they are just ACTING like they get it.
I think it's so fucking complicated and weird we won't figure out what it means well after Howard retires.
I doubt it will affect me personally for years. It better not affect the sub price. |

I'm taking a shit on the deal.
I bet we'll have to buy new recievers and maybe even get screwed with
prices that will eventually rise.
Also, didnt howrd get a ton of stock and part ownership of the company when he signed on? If so, I bet he's taking a shit on the deal too. He thinks XM is cursed. |
