Laskerisms are just great radio. The best is when Lasker says something that is so bizarre that he stuns Bubba to momentary silence and then Bubba adopts that condescending attitude "parent talking to 5 year old child voice" and explains to Lasker the foolishness of what he just said.
Bubba, frowning on Lasker's on air admission of dishonesty, asks rhetorically: "Do you cheat alot Gene?"
Lasker: "I tries to get away wid it."
You know what Lasker is trying to say but his tone of voice and the weird way he words things, great radio, the man just lays down great stupidity conversation stoppers. Bubba moved on because you just can't improve on that answer, there is no comeback to that. |

I liked it when he was trying to read the thing they had Spice read in that girly Chynaish voice. I can't remember which word it was but Bubba said Lasker probably couldn't even say it right...sure enough he couldn't.
I'd love to see Bob Levy and Lasker at a Toastmasters meeting. |

They should have a Gene Lasker Black History Month special...where Gene takes calls and explains such things as Slavery, Blacks in Basketball, and all other issues regarding race.
Now that would be entertaining....and educational to boot. |

Good pick... Thats a hell of an idea right there.
Gene reminds me of how Sylvester the Cat used to talk on the old Looney Tunes cartoons. I swear I'm just waiting for him to say "Sufferin' Succotash" to make it official. |

Bubba was on the phone with Howard on The Show and he had Lasker on the line to introduce Lasker to Howard. So Howard gives Lasker a little room to play his "hillbilly" character and alomost right away Lakser blew it by making a racist joke that was unfunny and forced Bubba to end the call....classic Lasker.
Lasker's first appearance at Sirius was also an unintended classic. Lasker sits there and says very little. Finally Bubba got angry with him, "why aren't you talking?" Now that I know him, I realize Lasker came in an acted like he always does, totally oblivious to the fact that this is a new audience and a new show where he should be explaining who he is. Bubba and Laskers realtionship is radio gold. |

Gription.
Talking about how well the grip on his tires are... When you race, if its cold outside the tires don't warm up and don't grip aswell to the asphalt. If its hot outside, the tires are warm and stick to the track better... giving it more "gription". |

that famous Lasker quote was about "blacks can't drives race cars they anit built for it"
he said this on the Howards Show last summer . It was reguarding Robins race against Bubba
I will never forget .It was the day before I met them in Knoxville for the 360 Sprint car nationals
this was the first thing I said to Bubba." what was he thinking" Bubba" said he just grabed the phone from him".We laughed our asses off a Gene explained "but iths true"
If you ever get a chance to hang with these crazy down to earth thrillbillies do it.....
they are no different in person. |

You couldn't write something that funny, the man is an unintentional genius. His attempts at jokes are funny but usually not for the reason that he thinks it is. You know Bubba waited before getting Lasker on Howard's show so that he could perhaps ease The Show into the mind of Gene Lasker but it didn't help, Lasker blew it within minutes. |
