There are two types of pit passes at all Nascar tracks. The passes are well marked as to what type they are, Cold or Hot.
A Hot pass - you are allowed in the pits when cars are on the track, whether it be practice, qualifying, or the race. The track is 'HOT' when cars are running. You can go pretty much wherever you want to go with a Hot pass. You usually need to know someone to get a hot pass. I'm not sure if you can even buy a Hot pass. I get mine through race team connections.
The other type is a Cold pass. As the name states, you are only allowed in the pits when the track is cold, IE no cars are running.

| Most of the drivers are usually walking to or from their trailers and will sign as they are walking. Good luck getting Tony's though he is quick and doesn't stand around. |

Like SealTeamguy said, the drivers are not just standing around hanging out. When they have downtime, they will go to their trailer to hang out, if not, they would continually be mobbed.
The big names like Gordon, Stewart, or Jr, get mobbed when they are coming from either the race trailer, their RV, or their car. They are tough to get, but not impossible. You can get lucky. Fans get pushy trying to get autographs, so you definitely need to be determined to get theirs.
While walking around the pits, just be observant, and you will see someone who is autograph worthy. I have never seen a driver refuse to give an autograph, but the only time you will catch them is when they are walking from Point A to Point B.
Just be cool about it, they are people too, just like you and me. Most of them realize that they are there because of us, the fans. Without us fans, they would not be racing, and getting paid millions. |

I have hot for all Dover races,
It helps to dress well and don't worry about a pic to prove your a mark.
my best moment was just getting a thumbs up and a big smile from Smoke during his bad boy years.
If he see's you smile and not mark out like a fag you will understand.
P.S
A Bubba shock the puss shirt works well just have it covered up and flash him he will mark you out to Bubba next week.
enjoy the race

As far as I know, you must be 18 years old to enter the pits....It may have changed in the last year or two, but that was always the rule... |

Generally, for all roundy-round pits:
No shorts.
No open-toed shoes. Leave your Birkenstocks and stiletto-pumps at home.
No nylon clothing. Mostly for drivers, but a damn good idea. Fire is hot. Hot melts nylon. Melted nylon on skin is a major inconvenience.
This seems to be the general rules for NASCAR Weekly Racing Series tracks, ARCA, ASA, USAC, IRL, CART, SCCA, IMSA, ISMA, ATQMRA, WoO, DIRT, WISSOTA, LMCS, etc.
Your mileage may vary. Void where prohibited. |

You can get a cold pit pass anywhere. From the racetrack, stubhub, ebay, anywhere. A cold pit pass is transferrable.
As far as I know, a hot pass is non-transferrable. There is a person/company associated with every hot pit pass. I could be wrong.
I know when I get my hot passes, I have to fill out an application called a SEAL, Single Event Application License at the Nascar trailer. I assume everyone who has a hot pass has to do that. Correct me if this is not right. |

also add that you need a shirt with sleeves (no tank tops) in the garage/pits.
