If you were to do a comprehensive study of punchings and other violent acts in the NBA you would find a wildly disproportionate number of black on white action. Obviously, with the numerical dominance of blacks in the NBA, it should cypher out to reflect those numbers - but it doesn't. My theory is that the fist-flying flashpoint between a black and a white is far lower than what it takes for a brother to mix it up with another brother.
I think the mindset can be summed up in a quote that Shaq had in his book. He said - "When a white boy dunks on you, you're gonna hear it alot worse than when a brother does it" |

Bryant was officially given a Flagrant Foul I by the league Monday, but was neither fined nor suspended for elbowing Kyle Korver in the jaw while dribbling down court in Friday's loss to Philadelphia. Bryant has been suspended twice this season for striking opponents in the face after shooting.
