| I'm listening to pittsburgh sports talk radio host Mark Madden say that Kansas City has increased their offer to have the Pens move the franchise to their new arena. He says that unless the pittsburgh politicians and Gov. Ed Swindell make them an offer they can't refuse by the weekend, the team will be gone for sure. Swindell has threatend to ask the NHL to prevent the team from moving, but considering he, along with pittsburgh's mayor and county chief executive have spent more time posturing in the media than getting a deal done, I think they are as good as gone. :( |

| That just seems wrong, if a team is in a town for over 25 years and has won championships, they should have to stay for life |

| Kansas City's track record in hockey ain't worth braggin' about....their previous NHL entry, the Kansas City Scouts, lasted just two years from 1974-76 before packing their bags to Denver to become the Colorado Rockies, and six years later...moved to New Jersey...and of course, the rest is history. |

| The Lemieux ownership group has a 6pm meeting with the governor, Pittsburgh's mayor and county executive with Bettman sitting in. The word is if they don't get a deal done tonight, its over. |

I can't see any reason as to why they would succeed in Kansas City, if anything they should go to Canada (Winnipeg, Hamilton, etc) where they'll actually get a lot of fans coming out to the games.
It'll suck for the guys on the team, because they have a very young and talented team, if they move to Kansas City and get fail because nobody shows to the games. |

Agreed, if they want to venture into a non-traditional hockey market... I'd choose Houston over K.C., they have about 3 times the population, and plenty of transplanted northerners that would go to games... not to mention the Toyota Center is a teriffic arena for hockey.
They really should go to Winnipeg (no other Canadian city)... but I have no idea why that city would build a brand new arena with only 15 000 seats, if they ever had any intentions of luring another NHL franchise. |
