Jeeeezzzz!!!!!

Secondly...

WAAAAAAAAAAAA....
Howard talks about HTV.... WAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

BTW, Howard NEVER said that there would be NO commercials on his Sirius show....
Good Grief!!!!!

Why don't you just go and fucking cancel NOW you "hater"????

I agree. I'm getting irritated with all of these dipshits who only hear what they want to hear when any kind of announcement is made. For those of you who are a little slow...Whenever Howard refered to no commercials he was talking about the MUSIC channels, not 100/101!!! If the merger goes through and they raise the rates then go ahead and piss and moan all you want because then you will actually have something to complain about then. Until that time, fuck off and stop bothering the rest of us who aren't a bunch of whiney bitches!!!

if your fan enough to post here pay the dime and shut the fuck up
you are getting twice as much show now in 4 days than ever in free radio
and if you plan to cancel if this happens just quit posting here now and do us all a favor
if you were a real fan you would pay 30 dollars a month just for howard

If Howard was the real Howard he would do 5 days and not keep asking real fans for more and more.

If they're merging programming, it should be 12.95 for everything they have to offer. No less no more, same as it is now. We didn't ask them to merge. If they merge and it's one company in control of MLB, NFL, Stern, etc, then we should continue to pay 12.95, just like we have. I guarantee if they start cranking up the prices, they will lose subscribers. Some people will drop it just because. That's how people are. This is the exact kind of stuff that all these hearings are about. They are talking about doing exactly what congress doesn't want them to do. They might have screwed themselves already.

You won't pay more to get Howard, you will pay less if you don't want him. Howard is included in the basic service. But if you don't want Howard, your basic service fee will be discounted.

Mel Karmazin, CEO of SIRIUS Satellite Radio, announced today that parents who are offended by programming such as Howard Stern will recieve a decrease in programming costs after the XM-SIRIUS merger.

“There would be a cost reduction to their bill in a more a la carte way,” said Karmazin. “If somebody doesn’t want it, not only are they not getting it, but they’re not subsidizing it either.”

This announcement comes after FCC Chairman Kevin Martin has publicly expressed interest in having of an a la carte programming system. Previously, Karmazin has said that Satellite technology will not allow for such programming choices but it seems that instead of customers paying more for the Howard Stern service(a la carte style), customers will have the choice to remove Stern from their radios and recieve a price cut in the monthly price of the service. Karmazin also noted that these details were included with the FCC merger notice filed on Tuesday.

This decision by the merger corporations could not only influence the FCC to approve the merger, but could influence other services such as cable television to do the same type of program discounting.

Dan Isett, a spokesperson for the Parents Television Council, who also supports such a la carte programming said, “This is good news, but we want to see the details. The problem they face is why should consumers be forced to subsidize Howard Stern if they want Major League Baseball?”

How do you think this will affect the FCC decision to approve or dissaprove the XM-SIRIUS merger?

Paying more money for things always sucks, but I'd do it for the Stern show! Hi Fred!

You guys are arguing about semantics. If some subscribers that pay $12.95 a month and others that receive more channels pay $14.95, that's called a premium or tiered packaging. That is THE WAY to make money in cable television.

My cable is through Comcast and my bill was like $200 last month. No, I'm not buying porn, but I get the HBO premium package, Stern on Demand and I buy ppv ultimate fighting events. When I started it was $29.99 a month.

I don't think the tiered packaging is actually a bad idea. For example, I don't ever listen to the NFL and I have no interest in baseball or NASCAR. When I watch that shit, it's on tv, never in my car.

Tiered packaging will also be the true test of what content is worth. If people are willing to pony up the dollars for something, you know it's good.

Here's my package:

1. basic package: music and news

2. add Howard on

I don't want the following: NFL, MLB (if the merger goes through), NASCAR, Bubba, Ferrel. Let the market speak.

The only reason I have Sirius is for the Howard Stern show, and the Riley Martin show.
Lets see if my rates go down.

The only way to do this would be to charge a basic fee for music and sports and a premium for Howard/Bubba/Ferrel. Karmizan has wanted to do this for a while and now the merger gives him the ammunition to do it.

Way to go, Henny Penny.

Are you too dim -- or does it run contrary to your troll/pest agenda -- to consider that when people subscribe to Sirius, they choose whether to activate the "Playboy" channel? They could do start doing the same thing with the "Howard" channels, RawDog, and any other channels that boast "adult" content with affecting the monthly charge.

Another option would be to reduce the subscription price from the $12.95/month by a nominal sum (e.g., $1.00/month) for those choosing not to receive those channels.

Man am I going to be pissed if the fuck with the Sirius content I pay for now.... I don't want anything changed because of this merger...
ralphsuks&blows
It'll change, don't worry. Those who want Stern will pay for it. They know it.

The pricing plan has been explained by Mel numerous times and it was done again when they officially filed for the merger.

The basic jist of it goes like this -

Everything you are getting now for $12.95 you'll still get for $12.95.

There will be a discounted price (probably $9.95) for people who are only interested in getting music.

Monthly prices will go up for content from the other provider. So if you have Sirius and want MLB, then your price will go up (which is a fair expectation), but only a few dollars. As Mel said, right now if you want Howard and MLB you have to pay $12.95 x 2. If the companies merge, they will be able to offer MLB to Sirius customers for far less than the combined rate but yes, more than what they are paying now.

There is something else to consider. Howard Sterns listeners might actually decrease if forced to pay a separate premium. I say this not due to the fact there may be an extra cost but because if there are listeners who listen in secret, if they are forced to pay they may stop listening especially if they do not want their family members to know that they listen to.

Howard's listeners won't have to pay a premium, so the topic is moot.

The only premium a Sirius customer would have to pay if the merger is approved is for XM content. Everything you get now for 12.95 you'll still get post-merger at the same price.
