| I am not doing shit, I have even moved the antenna inside the vehicle so it doesn't get damaged from rain/snow. Seriously these radio's are built like shit. The antenna all last 6 months before they will loose signal from the repeater and only see the signal from satellite, then one more month until it finally dies, I have tried three different models of antenna with no luck, I am pissed off. |

I fell in to the free 2nd radio w/6 mo. sub. I gave it to a friend for x-mas. the first came about a week before. needless to say we opened it early, did all the routing of the antenna wire, power cord, and the fm signal booster- fuck you fcc, you had to regulate it somehow- plugged the radio into the dock, no power. took to radio shack to see if it was the power addapter, but it was the radio. so I had to uninstall the whole setup put it back in the box, and ship it back. 2 weeks later I call wondering where the 2nd radio is, they havent shipped it yet, said it would be out the next day. anyway 2 more radios came. none worked. Finally they upgraded the radio to a better model which has worked fine but I sure felt like shit installing my friends x-mas present on jan. 25th
I got 2 howard keychains out of the deal though! |

| Sirius models require a conductance interference rod. Once you upgrade that you will not need any more antennas, stupid assholes! |

Maybe that is why they are breaking. "Set it and forget it." The rain won't hurt the antenna, and by moving it in the winter you have probably cracked the wire from it being too cold. As long as the wire is hidden through the jamb/seals, you shouldn't have an issue. |

Me too...I've seen alot of bad stuff written about Xact...but all my original equipment still works great from 12/05...the Vizor w/ home & car kits. People don't know how to take care of their stuff (plugging & unplugging) properly. |

I bought my 'Sirius One' at a Flying J about 8 months ago, installed the radio and antenna in the parking lot, activated via cell phone, total time spent=15 minutes (a large portion of which was spent trying to read the little itty bitty print in the manual on how to install the antenna by the luminescence of the dome light @ 3 am :D ) and since then, have not had any problems..
gotta say I agree that I love Sirius too!

One more fucking antenna, the next one I am going to put it in a box, then shit on it and mail it to Sirius, these motherfuckers need to see this bullshit they are making.
I am not moving my antenna's either you faggots that suggested that could be causing it. |

| 2.5 years on the same unit and antenna. not a problem. Just wish they'd add more repeaters to cover bridges/tunnels. |

Sirius Rocks...
the other day my boom box antenna wire got cut in half from the window.. Am I crying... NO
I spliced it back together and fired the radio back up... Working fine even with a spliced wire. |

| Funny how all these nimrods will blame the user when the shit breaks. No, morons, he is not criticizing Howard, just the shit product Sirius offers at top dollar. You shouldn't have to hide an outdoor antenna wire INSIDE anything, and you shouldn't have to replace a radio every 2 years or so. Get with it people, you PAY for this service and for the equipment needed to use it. |

why the antennae issue? do you live in an area with extreme weather? do you drive thru the car wash? what could be causing it?
most important thing you can do is try mounting it to somewhere else. the one on my jeep is the original. it's the oldest one I have. I havn't had to replace the ones on my mustang or pickup either. i've had to replace the one on kimmy's car once. when i did, I moved it to a totally different spot with the antenna cord in mind. that one has been find. |

The connection between my Xact XTR1 and the little car mount adapter did crap out, but it still works fine in the boombox, which also has an Xact home antenna (that's been out in the rain and snow for ages and still works well). The original antenna I got almost 2 years ago is also still working well with the Sirius one receiver they sent me free.
I do think my problem did come from un and re plugging the unit to move it from car to the house, and now that i have dedicated units, I haven't seen aproblem. |

Most of the time the antennas break when they are handled too much ie bringing in and out of the car a lot. The wire tends to crimp up like a paperclip.
Sometimes the antennas just die, like for no reason at all, but not as common.
If you don't want to deal with an antenna that's mounted outside try the Sigma Antenna, it works fairly well and won't have the types of failure that the car antennas do. The only thing is it might not pull in quite the same signal as the magnetic car antennas.
Here is where you can find the sigma antenna, it is placed on the inside of the windshield facing the sky. You just should have a vehicle with a fairly slanted windshield, unlike that of a Hummer.

MY antenna sits on top of my dashboard, the coldest it gets in the winter is -25 celcius and hotest is 35 celcius. they all work for 8 months before they crap out. very annoying. |

| i had to replace my antenna once as it seemed to almost crack in one spot(we had an extremely cold winter)other than that no problems |
|

| Buy a new one, take out the antenna, put the bad antenna in the box and return it. |

| I keep my antenna on the back deck of my car...never gets touched by the elements and get 100% reception. Haven't had a problem with either radio or antenna since Stern's intro. I don't think it's necessary for everyone to put it on the roof of their car...just free advertising for sirius if you ask me. |
