I don't get it.

Okay, the man broke the color barrier 60 years ago. Cool. He was a really good baseball player. Cool.

So what?

Is there a day celebrating the first Dominican to play US baseball? What about a Babe Ruth day? I think I'd be more willing to celebrate a Hank Aaron day over Jackie.

But let's get to the real issue behind this farce. MLB has found that there are less blacks playing than there has been in a while. Okay, again, so what? Perhaps Blacks would rather play football or basketball. Maybe they just don't like baseball. (On a side note, it's hilarious that Nascar keeps trying to bring in blacks even though blacks could care less about Nascar)

It is my opinion that this Jackie Robinson day is just a way for MLB to say, hey black people, we love you. We're sorry for owning your ancestors, so come play in our sport so Jesse and Al won't have to say we discriminate.

Shit like this perpetuates racism. If we're all equal, if we're all created by "god", then why must we continue to celebrate things like black history month? Why are NFL teams FORCED to interview at least one black? What happened to being the best qualified?

Imus just made it worse, I think.

Okay, cool.

So when is Neil Armstrong day?

We don't have days for everyone who's ever paved the way for something. But we do have days for minorities who "paved the way" for something.

When is Honus Wagner day?

Look, it's cool what Jackie did. He was a hell of a person. But why do we continue to perpetuate racism by doings things like this? It only reminds people that blacks and whites are still different, even though many like to say they are equal. Doing this only keeps the races separate.

its sickening hearing all these white announcers suck the black cock so they dont end up like Imus. espn sunday nite baseball is Dodgers/Padres for Jackie day and Jesse Jackson is there, YES he actually took time out of his busy schedule of being a racist hypocrite to show he's still the president of black people. a tribute to anyone who's white would be considered racist because blacks would complain theres not enough tributes to them, someone actually tooko the time to honor a white person instead of a black person so they must be racist. give it a rest. this isnt 1960 where theres seperate drinking fountains for fucks sake, its not our fualt theyve been free for 400 years and STILL cant get their act together.

I agree...it's all more than a little over the top. Of course ESPN has fucking jizzed all over itself. WE GET IT ALREADY!!!! Good for Jackie Robinson...good for black folks. What about the owners and management of the Dodgers who gave Robinson the opportunity. Don't they deserve some credit for helping break the color barrier?

It all just a bunch of politically correct fucking bullshit.

nah, some of us pay respects to courage as Jackie showed.

of course, some members of this board think taking cheaps shots on an internet site is far more courageous than what Jackie did.

ignorant much??
MLBoros72s
God you're stupid. Jackie Robinson day is the first day that desegregation is attainable by it being played out in athletics, which have always been a reflection and microcosm of society in general. Jackie Robinson started civil rights, MLK and MX continued it, and Ret.(Retard)Jesse Jackson and Ret.(Retard)Al Sharpton are ruining it.

You sound like the racist who's upset about Martlin Luther King day.
