Well, the Brits finally dropped the charade...
They have officially, as a union, endorsed boycotting Israeli goods.
For anyone who has traveled out of this country for any length of time... you find that your only news sources were really CNN and the BBC (lately Fox News has been springing up... but, as you can imagine, not in many countries were freedom of speech and the press is respected as little as the American Left!)
The CNN is pretty bad - NOT what you get here as the Intl CNN cowtoes to a Globalist Idea that Amerikkka is pretty much the root and source of all evil... but brave Americans, like Ted Turner, are trying to free America from the evil forces that control it. That's the editorial spin on every story and the local despot eat it up because it let "americans" take the blame for the misery that seems to plague their own country.
But the BBC!
Now there you have anti-Amerikkan, anti-Jew as an art form! And I say anti-Jew in that the BBC will frequently take the line from the Islamists i.e. that - Jews anywhere are legitimate targets because - if they had any decency - they would force their Jew kin out of the Middle East. Consequently, if a Jew is killed in Europe or Latin America - you will get the "policies of Israel" in the same by line as "another Jew was killed today.
And, of course, long before "irq" the BBC was anti-amerikkka only - slightly better than Israel - and amerikkans only slightly better than jews... but often equated with jews as being "money grubbling, uncouth, loud, obnoxious..." Of course, the BBC reporters won't say this... they will make sure that some local will say it, and theey will turn to the camera and comment, "But, with the policies of Israel/Amerikkka, can anyone be surprised at the heart felt reactions of these otherwise peaceful and generous people..."

Brit’s New Snit

April 18, 2007 -- IN 1930, poet Humbert Wolfe wrote his immortal ode to the English press:
You cannot hope to bribe or twist
(thank God) the British journalist.
But seeing what the man will do Unbribed,
there's no occasion to.
Eight decades have done nothing to alter the essential character of England's Fourth Estate. That was demonstrated last week, at the convention of the National Union of British Journalists when, by 66 to 54, delegates of the 40,000-member group voted to impose a boycott on Israeli goods.
This may not be as dire as it seems. Presumably, British journalists will now avoid Jaffa oranges, Negev tomatoes and other Zionist fruits and vegetables. They may swear off kosher wine, too. I sent an e-mail to the NUBJ in London, asking for details, but it has gone unanswered. This raises the possibility that British journalists will no longer be allowed by their union to talk to Israelis (although, as an Israeli, this seems a lot to hope for).
It's not every day that a community of western journalists takes such a clear stand against the pretense of neutrality. The "journalists" of Arab dictatorships routinely boycott Israel, but they're coerced. The Brits are, in Wolfe's phrase, unbribed.
The NUBJ accompanied its boycott decision with the sort of anti-Zionist rhetoric usually heard only in Tehran and Columbia University: It denounced Israel's "slaughter of civilians in Gaza" and the "savage pre-planned attack" in Lebanon.
These are strong words made stronger by their obvious lack of balance and proportion and other journalistic conventions. After all, Israel did leave Gaza a year ago. The slaughter taking place there is almost entirely carried out by Palestinian statesmen of rival factions.
Hamas, the elected government - which is officially dedicated to the destruction of Israel - routinely fires rockets at Israeli civilians. Israel does strike back, and painfully; evidently the British journalists regard this as unfair.
As for Israel's "savage attack" in Lebanon last summer, it was precipitated by a Hezbollah border raid so blatantly aggressive that even the Saudis criticized it. Hezbollah, which proceeded to fire thousands of missiles at Israeli civilian targets, was supported by Iran, Syria and David Duke. Now the Party of Allah has a new ally in National Union of British Journalists.
Some of the less progressive members of the NUBJ decry such partisanship. But as a longtime observer of Middle Eastern journalism - I was director of the Israeli Government Press Office under Prime Minister Menachem Begin - I welcome it as a moment of exceptional clarity and even courage.
A more image-conscious group than the NUBJ would have postponed its endorsement of the Palestinian jihad until the release of BBC correspondent Alan Johnston from his captivity in Gaza. It would also have refrained from announcing its boycott of the Jewish state on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day. Points to the British journalists for standing up to the Zionist lobby.
Israel now faces a unique problem. No open society in history has ever been boycotted by Western journalists. Some in Jerusalem will be tempted to denounce it as a declaration of war by the British media. But I think this is shortsighted.
Israel, I believe, should not only respect the British boycott, but join it.
There are some journalists who - while prepared to forego Israeli dairy products and such - will find it difficult to break their habit of access to the story. The government of Israel can make this easier by removing temptation. It should ask all British correspondents stationed in Israel to leave, either by way of Ben Gurion Airport or, if they prefer, via Gaza.
And it should withhold visas and accreditation from members of the National Union of British Journalists (and the media companies that employ NUBJ members) until the journalists of Britain decide to resume at least the fiction of impartiality.

And I completely agree...
Idiotic "boycotts" by people who should, at least pretend, to be objective (forget that the public demostrations of Palestinians qualify them as the very dregs of terrorist organizations... heck FARC and the Bsques show more character than Hamas and Hezbollocks!) desrves to be treated like thee biased ideologues they are...
But I am glad that they took this extra step and made a foot note for History

btw - I posted this on a website that is frequented by Brits "leftists" i.e. the Brits that regard the "Guardian" as their bible and sent advocates to Ohio in 2004 to urge (stupid Americans) to vote for anyone-but-Bush...
Interesting, no one really wanted to back up this declaration - even as they routinely blame Israel for every confrontation (as they blame "amerikkka" for every problem in the world...
The annoyance came down to one Brit demand that I get to MY point....

The Brit "intelligencia" thought the Holocaust was a just a "good start" and their age old anti-semticism is just now focused on Israel...
Let's face it - if Israel didn't have so many "jews" in it - the British intelligencia would regard the the defense of the Israel state along the lines of the struggle for Tibet to remain an separate entity from China, based on History, culture and political austerity (that and Tibetans remain only "victims" of their struggle and have not successfully carved out their own space... had they, they might incure that wrath that Intellectuals have for all peoples that rigousrusly defend themsleves against foes that would seek to annhiliate them...)
Here's the ironic twist...
At one time "intellectuals" stood for "democracy" "freedom" "independence" and personal human rights... starting wiith the right to exist!
Israel embodies all of these qualities against a backdrop of nihlism, intolerance and just good old fashioned hatred (under a security situation that would collpase most "westen" democracies) - the freest Arabs are those that live in Israel.
And, yet, the British "intelligencia" chooses to side with the people who want to "wipe Israel (in the form of Jews)" from the face of the globe... even as the people are in sympathy with the Islamists... would like to sweep aside British Common Law and replace it with Sharia - in their OWN COUNTRY.
How this doesn't sink in has always been beyond me...
But to openly declare and take sides - against the Jewish state (when History has made it obvious that - living anywhere else - was a good way to get Jews killed) - just seemed to be the final declaration of what moderate people (i.e. not Liberal/Left koolaid drinkiers who have replaced "liberalism" with their own concoction of "socialist, secularist orthodoxy" that Stalin and Mao would have been proud of i.e. the neo-comms) have been seeing for some time as the end of the ideal...
Kinda like Jazz, which at first shocked the Europeons out of their classical snobbery, then became popular as people started to realize that those "americans" may have something here... but, eventually, disintergrated into self serving, self engratiating, improvisation that left it's popular audience far behind... satisfying only those who were "cool" enuff to understand it... even if only on an theoretical, intellectual level.
I trust those - other - posts didn't cover this issue in this much detail...
But feel free to post examples!

Yeah, coming from European parents...
Knowing that - w/o the commitment of Americans BEFORE my blood line came here - the United States saved Europe from the Prussian Empire, Fascism and Communism... and spent billions to make Western Europe prosperous...
I guess my point of view are that the Europeans are ingrates, spoiled, naive and cultural snobs.
But, hey, that's only my impression ahving gone back there about every four years, since I started school there when I was eight.
Take it for what it's worth.

btw - if we weren't subsidizing their national defense (i.e. they don't even need a national defense knowing that America would not let Europen be overrun by a resurgent Tsarist Putin Russia) they wouldn't be able to fiinance those bloated cradle-to-grave socialist states... and they will still go bankrupt long before US!
But that's just a side note.

For those who don't believe the "impartial" press can't be influenced by terrorism...
There are some who suggest that this vote was just a ploy to get a Brit journalist released form some Palestinian fringe terrorist group, being held in the Gaza Strip... but far form me to suggest that "journalists" would chuck the very essence of their ideals to simple save one journalist from the people they would embrace as "morally superior" to those "jews"
