About 3k in attendance according to someone there

Not bad but nowhere near what Hogan thought he could draw
The last few weeks of TV in Memphis were down as well

The card was just plain horrible (no offense to Bubba)

Hogan owes Bubba for helping even get that many
Salkicksass
There must be more then that!!

Why?

The card sucks

You could hear Bubba's voice today worrying if there would be anybody there

Before Bubba signed on they had 1800 tix sold
Roundhead
I thought they had 5200 sold already without the walk ins

That was reported by BTLS & Hogan who are two of the primo workers

I'm not stirring up anything

Look for a full report later on PWInsider

The 3k estimate came from someone associated with the event that was backstage

Don't be marks

Bubba even said this morning he was worried nobody would be there ...

What "shit" can I stir?

Bubba isn't responsible for bringing 10k to a wrestling event ... the card screams "yawn". Hogan openly discussed drinking all day ... why would people care (outside of Bubba fans)?

How would they know, if they're in the dressing rooms?

Ugh I meant ... BTLS & Hogan were the ones that reported 5200 tix sold last week ... they were working fans ... you do know they both do that don't you?

My apology for misquoting

I'm not arguing, just asking. I hope they sold a lot, and it's underestimated

I know ... it was part my fault for not being clear

The only unbiased reporting of tix sold was a week before Bubba officially signed and then it was 1800 sold

Someone that works for event said it looks about 3k in an update to a reporter I am close with (that was at 7:55)

Bubba himself said he was worried about wrestling in front of nobody today

My point was they were working the 5200 advance

Bubba & Hogan are master workers & anybody that listens should know whatever they say is a lot of hype

A wrestling card of has-beens with no story won't do 10k

3-4k is pretty decent IMO

Edit: also about 3k at 7:55 means they can still do a lot more
Roundhead
Well maybe your right but Hulk does have a lot of star power and people love him. So for me to think Bubba was working us was hard to believe since 5200 is not all that much especially for the Hulkster
Hurlamania
Anyone know if it is streaming on the net somewhere since sirius screwed us over

It's not streaming. I think Bubba Raw is supposed to have the footage put up in a few days.

5,200 advance is HUGE

Its a match nobody cares about & you know there is no build up to the match with Wight

The rest of the card is filled with has-beens nobody else wants & Bubba

I think Bubba helped the event a lot

In wrestling a lot is worked & that includes the hype

You listen enough to Bubba discuss wrestling to know that

According to Bubba & Kurt Angle TNA is on the verge of beating WWE & beat both ECW & Smackdown in ratings & TNA never beat either but Kurt & Bubba discussed it had

I heard tape delay tomorrow, possible.

Actually I found out Memphis is an hour behind (EST) - I thought they were EST
Maybe they will break 5 & that would be great IMO

Ok well do you have anymore reports for us. I do apreciate them.

3,000 isn't that bad with very little ways of promoting it. This isn't like TNA or WWE being on national TV. 3,000 would be pretty good, I think. But the card DOES suck. Hogan vs. Paul Wight is a cool main event but they need to do what WCW did and fill the under card with some really good workers like Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles, Chris Sabin, etc. I thought they were going to work on a deal with TNA?

Hulk Hogan vs. Paul Wight

Bubba & someone vs. some tag team

Samoa Joe vs. Rhino

Christopher Daniels vs. AJ Styles

Chris Sabin vs. Jay Lethal

Team 3D vs. LAX

That would be a much better show.
JKGroups
an hour into the card there is a report of about 5k with no more walk-ups
Most were walk-ups so the 5,200 advance was Hogan & BTLS working everyone

That is very good for them

What Hogan did was create unrealistic expectations by expecting a lot more
JKGroups
6 matches so far, so Bubba is pretty high on the card since he has not wrestled yet

Good for Bubba ... he deserves the props

Hey if you ever get a chance to be friends with the guy you marked out for when you were younger it might make sense

I always give Bubba credit for becoming tight with Hogan & Howard

He is a wrestling & radio mark & became tight with the top name ever in both ... Bubba is a great worker :D

Bubba was a fan of his at first, but then they became good friends. Hootie was one of the very few guys who helped him out when he was off the air for that almost-two year period. He was there for Bubba when few others were.

----Brutus Beefcake/Bubba The Love Sponge beat The New Assassins with "Big Cheese" Sal Corrente. Assassins looked just like the guys working in Memphis as Fire/Flame. Bubba was horrible in the ring. He did a splash from the second rope for the pin. Beefcake put Sal in the sleeper and they cut his hair after the match.

----After the match they brought some kid from St. Jude down and Bubba had the kid on his shoulders. VH1 cameras captured that and it was a kewl moment for the kid and the crowd.

Well, he did have some serious ring rust (2 years worth), plus this is probably the first time he's wrestled at this weight. But what else did you expect?! :D

St Jude's Childrens Research Hospital -- my favorite charity in the world! Very cool that they incorporated that into the show (being a local hospital and all). :btu:

As typed above Bubba sucked (said he seemed uncoordinated) ... my guess was drunk on Miller Lites with Hogan (lol)

I heard he got a real nice pop though

Good for him ... he really helped save Hogan & Corey's ass on this

I don't fuk'in care!
Bubba The Love Sponge has ball's to even fuck around in the ring...and hey a little exposure more fans ....more fans more bubba ...!!!!!!!!! ya' mult

I work just a couple blocks from the FedEx Forum so I went over there at about 5:30 after work. There was a line out front (saw a couple people in Bubba shirts) but definitely not like when there's a big event there like a NBA game or a big concert. I'm kinda doubting they pre-sold 5200 as well but whatever I'm sure it turned out decently. Too bad the fuckin meet and greet was only for premium ticket holders...I would have gone otherwise.

i was at the cubs/cards game... someone said sirius screwed up the feed?
kudzufloyd
Great time!!! I was yelling for Bubba to break out the "Rattler" !! You will be able to hear me on the feed from sirius!! Hogan Knows best camaras were all over me!!lol I had my pic taken with the hogan mark that was his #1 fan last season. I will post 'em monday. Great time. Bubba wasn't in the ring long. He kept out the assassins while brutis cut Nate the rats hair. Nate the rats brother is a famous musicians brother, bobby whitlock, who played in derick and the dominoes. Best part was bubba and brutis comming out to "FTE"!!!

Rock on!!!

They didnt screw up the feed there was no feed, The screwed us listeners, they said they would broadcast it then decided not to make history and air it live, rather than edit it a replay parts of it later, who cares after the fact, everyone knows what happened, so it will be boring.
They missed there chance to capture the moment and make magic and history.
I just hope they dont take that approch with everything else and not air things live anymore,
incase some people dont like it and edit it first and then air it.

almost 200 channels and they can't air 3 hours of wrestling...
The Truth
Numbers were pretty sad, no matter how you look at it. And Raw did 5500 at its Raw taping? Yeah, right. Hogan better get right back on the phone with Vince after tonight.

Anyways, Hogan only had about 1200 tickets solid which is AWFUL pre Bubba. Post him, they had 2500 tickets sold. Looks like Bubba has more 'star power' than Hogan.
Solidbaby
I give Hogan a "nice try" for putting this together, but it isn't/won't be the grand tour to top all wrestling. From the guys Hogan mentioned that would be on the card, they wrestled at a slow, monotous pace 20 years ago, imagine how they do now...

Have to give credit to Bubba though, wrestling isn't as easy as just stepping in the ring and playing around...and Bubba is untrained.
Hurlamania
it was only a house show that originally was hoping for 800-1000 ppl

I don't know how they can make the show interesting on Sirius. The crowd was small...about 3,000 (my guess). I counted 5 people with McGillicutty shirts on. Alot of yellow and red. Also, a lot of "country comes to town" people!!!

Bubba got a good reception. He walked out with Brutus to the FTE music. Bubba had alot of ring rust to him. It looked like he struggled to climb in the ring and then up on the second turn buckle to drop an elbow. He wore his Bubba Army T-shirt and some basketball style shorts. Looked like he might have have borrowed Hulks wrestling boots.

Hogan went over as expected. He came out Stone Cold style with knee braces on both knees. Looked like he favored the right knee more. The match was slow and typical but understanding since Hogan doesn't have any "current" wrestling moves. He kinda missed Paul with the foot to the face but Paul adjusted and rolled out of the ring as he should have to sell it. Then match ended as they all do with the big leg drop.

My grip was Bubba CONSTANTLY kept adjusting his ball sack. He should have worn some tights under the shorts or something. It was funny to see him put a move on one of the assassins and then get up and adjust. He was trying to get in the ring to help Brutus but the ref would make him go back to the corner and he would be adjusting all the way back. He must have been markin out to Brutus really good.
