For Spring Break we packed up the family and drove to South Carolina. When we headed back home, we decided to spend the night seeing it was already 1:30am and we were tired of driving. We were in North Brunswick, NJ and came upon the Holiday Inn Express on Route 1 North.
We checked in and after settling the kids down and watching a little tv, Six hours later, My wife woke up and staring her right in the eyes on her pillow was a BED BUG!!!! She threw her pillow and ran to me to tell me ... I captured and killed the bug and took it to the front desk. She informed us that she wouldn't charge our account until she talked to her Manager and then would let us know what we needed to do.
Fast forward to Thursday (5 days later). We never heard from anyone at the hotel. The hotel then charged us 50% off and didn't have the courtesy to contact us. My right arm is covered in bites and I fumigated my bedroom just in case I brought some home. I called the hotel and after arguing with them they refunded me the money.
They did not care that they had bed bugs and lied to us about trying to contact us. They have not done anything to treat the room or the hotel and continue to put customers in the room we used. Beware of this franchise and warn everyone!! |

| Yes I checked the mattress.. It looked brand new. We stay at a lot of places and a few years ago I saw a special on 60 minutes. Ever since then I check the beds everywhere. Guess you never know. But let me tell you, the people in NJ didn't give a rats ass about it.. |

Write and bitch to Holiday Inn (or whoever the parent company is). They are all independently owned. Probably owned by some rag head who doesn't give a shit about the hotel so if they receive enough complaints they will revoke their franchise. |

| There is a site to check out hotels.com and a AAA one I think.....that rates hotel chains....Everyone has bad experiences at just about all of them in some form or another.... |

Sal I would suggest a page from my last attack on a business and find websites that host their business address, numbers, online booking etc.
For a hotel I would suggest things like Yahoo, and all the hotels.com type sites.
Post the links on here and let us get to work on leaving bad reviews then I would call Holiday in and say "If you don't make this right I will continue to have people bomb your business with shitty reviews" |

Thanks but i don't want folks here to get tied up with all that hotel crap. Just wanted to post a warning and have the word spread. People think it's gross and that will keep them away.. :D |

| I've stayed at one in Dallas, TX and didn't experience this. In fact it was one of the nicer stays I've had at a hotel. But heck, if this is happening at different locations I prolly will not be staying with them ever again. |

I travel a lot.. i mean i stay in hotels for about 2 months out of the year. I stay at all holiday in expresses/ICS hotels and I've never had that issue. I've even stayed at the one mentioned here (Rt 1 behind the I think TGI Fridays) and i've stayed at another one here on Rt 1 near Princeton). I've never had this happen. I did however have this happen to me at a red roof inn in Altoona, pa, and i'll never stay there again (i stay at the holiday inn in altoona now). I had bites all over my hand!
To sum it up this is a ranom occurance and most hotels don't know they have a problem until it's brought to their attention.
But, the biggest thing is if you find that you do find yourself staying in one of these places to keep your luggage outside for at least a week so they don't infest your house.
I work not too far from the hotel your speaking of.. and.. I'll pay them a visit if you want.. Jersey Style!! |

If you lived in this part of the US you would know better than to go to the beach at Coney Island.. you would hit the South Jersey shore as the closest beach. |

The weird thing is I gave them an actual bed bug that I killed. But they didn't seem like it was a big deal.. The Manager and the girl behind the desk both had different stories about what they did and neither had to do with checking the room and locking it until it was fumigated.
The manager was kinda a cunt about refunding my money thinking 50% off was ok for getting bit like crazy. But what can I expect both bitches had accents.. |

I now what you are going thru, I had the same experince driving thru maryland at a holiday inn express. Not as bad but you really need to contact corporate relations and alos contact the consumerist.com. These 2 places will often get more action done than dealing with the possible franchise owner.

We stayed on Hilton Head Island for a week. One of the days there we drove to Columbia to check out the area and the new houses. I liked Elgin..
SC was sooooo clean and everyone was nice. I loved the weather and how cheap the houses are compared to here. I already miss Sonic and the restaurants down there, everything was soo fresh.. |

Nice to hear our southern hospitality treated you well. HH is nice as is most of the coastline to the south... There are a ton of small towns (like Elgin) off the beaten path here and there. Stay out of Columbia if you can help it. Gets hot as hell in that asphalt/concrete jungle during the summer.
Glad you enjoyed your stay here. More often we hear the stories of people hating their trips for whatever reason. I'm trying to get NT, Wiz and BK to move down here so I won't be the loan Darksider from SC... ;) I don't think BK wants to leave Miller, though... :( :D |

I have been to Best Buy hundreds if not thousands of times but it only took one time of me trying to buy a computer and not one single effing person would wait on me and I have never been back to any best buy. The reason??? I called corperate and they couldn't care less.
Fuck them I won't be back and I won't go to another Holiday inn after Sal's story.
It's business and someone out there is always willing to go the extra mile, and if that someone isn't best buy or Holiday inn I will go to the Radisson or Ultimate Electronics. |
