... just sayin..that's what the ny post is reporting.............
A.Lang=Crazy
Deal is worth 20-24 million for a little more than half of a season. Thats a ton of money for a 44 year old pitcher that won't dominate in the American League like he did in the National League. It just shows how desperate the Yankees are for pitching.

That pompus ass has always been about the money. Maybe he'll be in regular season form by the time September rolls around and the Yankees are 22 games back.

will they have a bat boy to deliver his roids.

Must be nice to sit on your ass until you feel like playing and then sign for 20 mil. Just a reminder to Yankee fans, he's not in his 20's anymore.

Money is not a problem with the EVIL EMPIRE my friend. Roger won't have to be as SOLID as he was in the NL, where he was one of the top pitchers since he left the Yanks with little run support. Add that Yankee lineup to your so called thought that Roger's ERA will go up a tad in the AL and we have a WINNER....

I still say Cashman goes out and gets a young ace, regardless if they get Roger or not

he is still YOUNGER then El Duke by 3-4 years and would be the ACE of the Mets. Have you looked at his #'s the past few years in the NL?

This is big. I'm sure if he picked the Red Sox, Red Sox fans would think he was God again.

Young ace from where? There are maybe a handful of pitchers who would qualify as a "young ace" and no team is going to give em up.

I have always hated Clemens, never wanted him on the team the first time. And paying someone 20+ mil to pitch half a season or so is obscene.

But sadly, he will help a lot.

Not for the kind of money Clemens demanded, and not for half a season. Tavarez is pitching fine, he outpitched Santana last night, just didn't get any run support.

As a Red Sox fan, I was hoping he would pick Houston. I've always hated the guy ever since he left and didn't want his egomanincal, aging, steroid filled ass on my team, but I didn't want to see the Yankees get him either. Hopefully he will pull a hamstring too. :D

Everybody has to admit though, pitching in the AL East will be dramatically different that the crappy NL Central. I'm not saying he won't be an upgrade to the NY staff, but he isn't the difference maker he used to be. Besides, he is probably off the juice now and only on HGH. His 5-6 innings per game will be fun to watch either way.

yankee fans believe their entitled to the championship every year...they haven't figured out over the last 7 years that buying the best players doesn't always equal championships

the problem is that clemens may pitch decently but he's not going to pitch into the 7th and the bullpen is still going to have to get it done....hopefull clemens will have a 9-2 lead every game

he DOMINATED the NL with ZERO run support, if he pitches decent for the Yanks and their lineup, well then I will take it

Better yet, he is the only pitcher on the Yanks that will go HEAD hunting when the Yankee batters get hit, so Ortiz and that pussy Manny better heads up, you can bet your ass Roger either hits them in the head or sends them face first into the dirt!! SAAAAAWEET!!

i wouldn't bet on that, barring injury dice-k will win more games.... but at the same time it's not really saying much...the guy was possibly the greatest pitcher in history and has an all-star lineup behind him.

He averaged less than 6 innings a start in a league w/ no DH and against sub par competition. He is a good sign for the Yanks becuase their staff is so lousy though.

NOPE, ever since the Pedro days, not one Yankee went head hunting EXCEPT Clemens, and I respected him for that and I pray he brings it to anyone!
A.Lang=Crazy
Only thing I have to say it is an upgrade in the rotation, but don't expect Clemens to be dominate like he was in the National League. Clemens pitched against teams like the Pirates and Brewers most of the time that at the time had weak offenses and he didn't have to face the DH. Expect Clemens numbers to be like they where when he left the Yankees about a 4-4.50 era. Add in the fact he is 4 years older and he has to face some powerhouse offenses don't expect him to dominate. Also he can't pitch more than 6-7 innings per game and it’s not like the Yankees bullpen has been great this year. Clemens will be solid, but don't expect him to jump right into the rotation and be the #1. Also for the rest of the world with Clemens signing all we will be hearing on Espn will be more Red Sox/Yankees bullshit like there isn't enough already. I guarantee when Clemens makes his first start in the minors they will televise the game and if he dominates some shitty Triple A hitters all Yankee fans and the media will declare he is back and if he struggles people will say he is rusty. I'm just saying 20 plus million dollars is too much for any pitcher and it’s not like he will start right away. He will need a couple starts in the minors and by the time he pitches it will be close to the all-star break when the Yankees might be out of the race for the division already.
TJGOnee
Clemens is going to make between 5 & 6 million per month, depending on when he gets back and how deep the Yankees might go in the playoffs... amazing.

Clemens announces return to Yanks
By Bryan Hoch / MLB.com

NEW YORK -- Roger Clemens is a Yankee.
With those five words, displayed on the video screen at Yankee Stadium in a surprise announcement during the seventh-inning stretch on Sunday, the 44-year-old right-hander ended all the speculation and confirmed his return to the Bronx.

Public-address announcer Bob Sheppard instructed the crowd to draw its attention to the owner's box and the video screen, where Clemens, holding a microphone, drew a loud ovation from the crowd at the game between the Mariners and Yankees.

"It's a privilege to be back," Clemens said. "I'll be talking to you all soon."

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman was not immediately available for comment, but further official announcements are expected shortly.

He just said a half hour ago he fully expects to be ready by June 1st.

Plus, a 4 - 4.5 ERA pitching for a team that averages 6.5 runs per game more times than not equals more wins than losses.

Thats what you can do when you have a quality product year after year, build revenue, and own a team in a league that is too scared of it's own players union to adopt a salary cap. You can't blame the Yankees or Steinbrenner, their playing by the rules.

44 years old. The guy is 4 years older than Jeff the Drunk. Think about that.
The AL is gonna love this guy. I cannot wait til he gets pulled in the third inning at Fenway. It is going to happen. I hope to hell I am there.

I would put the over under on his era at 6.5

I will gladly revisit this post in September, this is going to be some much fun to watch.

why can they afford to pay them that much though? Because they have a quality product, built a brand, and created revenue... Atlanta hasn't sold out a baseball game in years, yet they have a quality team. Their fans could give a shit about the team. At least Yankees fans come to the games and inject money into the team.

The great Yankee history has nothing to do wit it? Not even for guys like Manny being Manny who want to play for the Yankees? I don't recall reading any reports of him wanting to come back to New York to play for the Mets. I wish I DID hear that because I'd never want him in a Yankee uniform
