all that is is a PCM that needs to be recalibrated

No more Ford's for me...
2000 F250 Super Duty, Diesel
Turbo Blown
Power Brakes Blown
Power Steering Blown
2nd Turbo Problems
All under 20,000 miles
Ford did fix everything, but I couldn't keep the truck after all of the problems, so I sold it. I told the guy that I was selling it because of the problems I had, he said he'd take because it was still under warranty. Ford has had nothing but problems with their diesels over the last 8 years. Ask around before you spend your hard earned cash.
I am now a pround owner of a 2006 Dodge 2500 Diesel. No problems so far, but I only have 3500 miles. |

No shit.... wow! From ford fires dot com
FORD RECALLS F-150 PICKUP TRUCKS, FORD EXPEDITION & LINCOLN NAVIGATOR
The recall in January affected about 792,000 Ford F-150 pickups, Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators from the 2000 model year. The 2001 F-Series Supercrew trucks were also affected. The company began notifying owners of the recall in February and dealers were instructed to deactivate the cruise control switch for free. Deactivating the switch disabled the cruise control in the vehicles. NHTSA opened an investigation into the defect in November after receiving 36 reports of fires. All of the incidents occurred when the vehicle was parked and the ignition was turned off. According to NHTSA and Ford no injuries have been reported. The agency has received 193 complaints about the 2000 model year vehicles alone. |

My buddy just bought a f-250 Super Duty Diesel, It runs awesome quiet as a gas step on it it goes, just as fast as a gas engine, great gas mileage. I hated Ford, but after seeing this truck and driving it, I am impressed with the F-150 & F-250 Very much.
Chevy Sucks as far as service and quality, then again American Sucks, American Anything, Want reliable Quality Built Toyota tough hehehe. |

I drove this truck and it felt great. Good acceleration, fairly quite, good torque. Great truck all around.
It was between this truck and a new Chevy 2500HD Duramax Turbo desiel. They both were very even in my opinion. Went with the Chevy since I get the GM employee discount. |

I need a flatbed truck like this one.I am a Chevy guy, but I am undecided on which diesel motor I want.
Chevy = Duramax motor w/ Allison Tranny - #1 pick, but an Isuzu motor?
Ford = International motor - I like the powerplant but Ford trucks are pretty plain
Dodge = Cummins motor - dont know much about the truck, but the Cummis motor is a strong in-line
still gathering info before I drop 40 Gs on a truck. |

The Durmax is made in America and over 9 million of them have been bult here. It was co-developed by General Motors and Isuzu and GM holds all the rights and patents to the engine. The thing has nothing to do with Isuzu anymore. |

Be prepared to get a new tranny in your Mopar every 40k miles. Thats what the truck guys tell me.
Go with the Chevy. Mine has 170k miles and I have had no repairs except standard shit (new tranny at 130k). |

Isuzu diesels are some of the best on the planet, and Allison's reputation speaks for itself. The tranny is pretty loud though.
Fords have the strongest suspension and frame of them all, but the gas mileage is horrible compared to the chevy. Plus, I would never buy a engine on its first years release.
Dodge has the best engine, but weakest automatic tranny. It can't handle the torque of the cummins. I believe they also went back to the solid front axle on the chassis cab. If that is true I would probably go with dodge assuming you don't mind the 6 speed manual.
I am speaking from my experience of hauling offshore equipment on a 40' gooseneck with a 2001 dodge 3500 and a 2005 chevy 3500 (both chassis cabs). |

| i am a chevy man til i die! but if someone wants a ford or a dodge or a 85 isuzu pup to each his own ! the duramax had some serious problems when it was new also, i saw the block from one where it threw the rods clear through the block ! it was pretty impressive. im sure ford will get there problems with this truck figured out but i wouldnt quite run out and buy one yet. |
