New rumor in the McNabb saga.

Super shuffle? McNabb, Briggs swap makes sense
Monday, May 21, 2007 2:06 pm EDT

Was the recent drafting of quarterback Kevin Kolb a sign that the Philadelphia Eagles might trade Donovan McNabb before the 2007 season?

That's one theory, anyway. As for a possible destination, the Chicago Bears are ready to win the Super Bowl. They might have won it last year except for a glaring weakness at quarterback.

The key to this scenario is Bears linebacker Lance Briggs, who has said publicly that he will never play for Chicago again and who refused to report to minicamp on Friday.

Briggs is, arguably, the best weakside linebacker in the game and is only 26. He could help Philly rebuild its defense while Kolb gets ready to take control of the offense.

Briggs is a hell of a player and the Eagles linebacker corps is weak, but I don't think you can deal a franchise qb like McNabb for him. Granted McNabb is injury prone, but when healthy he is a top 5 qb. This move will made the Bears almost unbeatable and I think would hurt the Eagles. It's not like Kolb will come in right away and play well being his rookie year. It might help 2-3 years from now, but the Bears might already have their super bowl ring. Briggs is good, but a qb has more impact on a game than a linebacker. I don't think the Eagles are this stupid to make this deal and I'm sure its just a bunch of bullshit.

Better chance of Sixers getting Oden or Durant then the Eagles trading McNabb this season
sorabji_66
does Briggs remotely have a clue how to run a two-minute drill in either half of a Super Bowl?

Sign the deal....Maybe Eagles can try and get Garcia back.

Agreed. Had the Eagles signed Garcia then maybe but with nobody else except AJ or a rookie they would be giving up on the season already.

I will take McNabb for Briggs in a MINUTE. I hope they pull the trigger. Briggs is Briggs mostly because of having the privilege of playing next to Urlacher.

but the odds of McNabb finishing the season....based on past performances, is slim at best.

Eagles would clearly get the worst of that deal.

Eagles have no shot without McNabb. They let Garcia leave, and he got them in the playoffs. If they let McNabb go also, they have no qb.
Jack the Hammer
That's the most ridiculous trade talk I've ever heard the Eagles already have no shot, without McNabb they'd be offcially done and written off. Garcia's already signed, QB's are hard enough to come by as it is!

McNabb is a pussy who gets hurt easily and Briggs is only good because Urlacher. It would be a bad trade for both teams.

LOL!
WhiteBoy
it wasn't really a rumor.......it was a columnist's "what if"
nedmark61
a cry baby for a choke artist....... good trade 4 both teams......
ArtieRules100
that would be stupid. a briggs are a dime a dozen in the nfl. you can draft a LB in the 3rd rd. of the NFL who would be as good as Briggs. Donovan is a franchise player.
