Rememer the "peaceful" days, back in the 90s, when Chinton, Perez and Arafat assured the world that the Palestinian people were "just like us" i.e. that given half a chance, and billions of dollars in aid, they could form a nation sitting side-by-side with Israel by simply trading land for peace...

Remember how the Western Media - particularly in Europe - portrayed the Israelis as the Neo-Nazis (even siting the excursions into the West Bank during the Intifata were "just like" the Nazis surpressing the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto riots...)

Well, here we are a decade later and the empowered people of Palestine (the mythical state that never existed... before the UN decided to grant it virtual state status) have take there first step towards democracy by electing Hamas - who party line is "kill every last jew and wipe the jewish state from off the face of the map..."

Now they are in Civil War - REAL Civil War (not like in Iraq) where the two opposing parties have split up the little land they have, executed or exiled all political opposition and will run their separate terroritories like armed camps.

We should remember the words of Arafat spoken - after - the international press conference at the Oslo Accords... he spoke in Arabic to the Palestinian and Arab and Muslim people...

"I have only made a Peace with the Quaresh"

And every Muslim smiled, knowing that Arafat, the founder of their religion, was only making peace with their enemy so long as it would take them build up a powerful enough force.. .to crush their enemies...

Sad to see Arafat's dream - of killing every last jew - delayed by the summary executions of people in his own party by fellow Palestinians over petty political differences.

Is it any wonder why - when Palestinians cite figures of people killed in clashes with Israelis, they INCLUDE Palestinians who were killed by other Palestinians - either for being suspected of being informats... or simply out of some old grudge.

It's kinda like the cross town rivalry between the Bronx Yankees and the Queen's Mets... except for all the bloodshed, huh?
