Wow - heard it on Bubba, and confirmed online....
That's crazy! Him, his wife and possibly a child. |

| Looks like they pulled all the faux McMahon death stuff off WWE's website. Maybe Vince will show some class and drop it for the show on behalf of Benoit. |
|
|
| Mahatma Gonad |
| None of the news networks appear to be carrying the news (not that he was a major public figure). Has there been any word if it was something like an accidental carbon monoxide poisoning - or something more sinister like murder? |

Story is only a couple of hours old.
WSBTV in Atlanta(his hometown) has it, and WWE is not the source:

I'm glad Vince broke the fourth wall and dropped the BS to honor a pretty well respected guy. I haven't watched wrestling in 5-6 years, but Benoit was one of teh best when I was watching and his tribute match to Owen Hart is one of the few matches that really sticks out in my memory.
Any word on whether this was tied to his not being at the pay per views as reported? |

Sad but funny, I wondered about my autographs of him too.
I got them in the mid to late 80's with Stampede Wrestling based out of Alberta. He was one of my favorite guys back then, he used to be called 'dynamite' after the dynamite kid. I think I have 2 autoghraphs of him, one from here in Leader, and one from Medicine Hat.
I'll have to go through my autographs and see how many guys are dead, maybe I have a curse or something. I got Owens autograph the same day in this small shithole of a town too. |

I am totally shocked. This is unbelieveable.
Benoit was one of the best wrestlers EVER! His fights with Kurt Angle were a study in wrestling. I loved to watch those to go at it.
Chris was devasted with Eddie Guarraro was found dead and I'm sure he was really hurt when Kurt left WWE for TNA. Kurt himself said that he wish Chris had come with to WWE, but Vince & Co. made Chris sign a contract very quickly, so he wouldn't leave. I thought his storylines were weakened since Eddie died and the move to Raw was not a good one. Chris looked unhappy over the last year or so. And tired too, like Eddie
This is a HUGE loss in the world of wrestling. I didn't hear Bubba this morning, but I'll try to stay up for the replay at 1am. I hope Kurt calls and Hogan calls tomorrow
I'm really really sadden about this. :( :( :( |

| I can't believe the media isn't running with this story more, all they want to talk about is that fucking cunt Paris Hilton and the pregnant mother who was killed in Canton Ohio which I found out was an interracial story by watching the news tonight for info on Benoit. Colin Cowherd should have an interesting show tommorrow on ESPN, Sirius 120 10 am to 1 pm Eastern. The Herd pissed off the wrestling websites when Guerrerro died. |

there's rampant speculation out there and it all seems to go to him killing her and the kid over a period of two days and then killing himself in his weightroom.
The question is whether Bubba will pull the trigger and discuss every piece of speculation. After V Tech he implied that anyone that didn't run such materials ASAP were pussies. Here its a story that will touch a lot of his friends and I'm curious if he'll be as quick to throw everything out there confirmed and unconfirmed. Either way he's in an awkward spot. |

I think enough sources are confirming murder/suicide to make it more than speculation at this point.
And in response to early comments about how sad this is, while it is indeed very sad that a human being chose to take his own life, it is even sadder that he felt compelled to take the lives of his wife and son as well.
May all of them rest in peace. |

Your just jealous I have them :)
When you are 9 years old in small town Saskatchewan and you get to meet a bunch of wrestlers who are on T.V... you get their autographs if they offer to sign them for you. And then go back to blowing your other gay friends :D
I wonder what long term steroid use is doing to some of these wrestlers brains. I'd guess it takes a lot of depression and some mental problems to cause anyone to kill his kid... if that is what happened. |

I found an interesting article about the 'curse of Stampede wrestling' - written before Benoit's death
http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling...20/4195265.html
In summary
Dynamite Kid - He is partially paralysed, suffering from a myriad of back, leg and heart problems, and is cared for by his second wife, Dot and will never walk again.
Owen Hart - dead at age 34
Flyin Brian Pillman - had a near fatal car accident in 1996, recovered, and died of a heart attack in 1997 at age 35
Davey Boy Smith - Heart attack while vacationing in BC in 2002 at age 39
Bret Hart - fell from bike in Calgary in 2002 and had a stroke
And now Chris Benoit |

I watch Raw for the 1st time in about 5 years. When they were showing pics of Benoit from the early years, as a young 20-something, one thing kept going through my mind.
At an age where your testosterone levels decrease, combined with being in the sport of pro wrestling, I think it's safe to guess that this had something to do with roid rage, or maybe depression/meds connected to roids.
Toxicology test will be available in a few weeks. We'll see. |

The thing I find funny is WWE does a tribute to a murderer. How many people on death row had a show dedicated to them?
Is there something wrong with this? |

From Wade Keller's (wrestling "dirt-sheet reporter" Audio Update:
-He said it is being reported he suffocated his wife and son, perhaps a day apart. And then hung himself. Late Sunday night, he sent a strange text message to a person within the WWE. The police broke into the house at 2:30 pm today and found them in separate rooms.
-Hardly anybody backstage really knew Benoit. He had a very small inner circle that one time included Eddy Guerrero and recently included Chavo Guerrero. But even they had a certain psychological distance from Benoit. Everyone could tell that something wasn't right lately with Benoit.
-A lot of steroids were found in the Benoit household, and Benoit has had bouts with "roid rages". WWE may suffer publicly because of their unenforced "Wellness Policy".
- The person who received the strange text message was in fact Chavo Guerrero, and Keller also mentioned that they're dropping the Mr. McMahon angle and probably won't do anymore Benoit tributes (that is, no more tribute shows - may still do the birth-death dates and picture opening on ECW and Smackdown) |

| A law enforcement official close to the investigation tells The Associated Press that pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room. |

TMZ.com post... could be bullshit but who knows
My second cousin is an officer with GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigations) and what he's heard in his circle is that Chirs Benoit's wife killed their son Daniel, called Chris and told him to rush home because of an emergency which is why he missed last Sunday's Vengeance PPV. Upon arriving home Benoit killed his wife in a rage for the death of his son and then killed himself Monday morning. His wife's body was found in the master bedroom, strangled with the cord from an alarm clock. The son's body was found in his room appearantly suffocated with a garbage bag. Chris then wrote a suicide note explaining what had happened, apologized to his family, his other children (from a seperate relationship), and his fans. He the fasioned a slip-knot noose from from rope taken from the garage and hung himself from the ballaster in the foyer of his suburban Atlanta home. |

My guess is it was written by someone hoping Chris did not kill his kid. I think the cops are waiting until the autopsies are done, so they know the time of deaths before they announce anything. If his wife killed his son, and then Chris killed her, the autopsies should show that.
The cops did say the story would be bizzare.
I did some reading about his wife. As it turns out, a few of my snake friends met her and Chris in 2002 when they were looking to buy a snake. She was married to another wrestler and was a manager / wrestler herself since 1984 - from Florida, Daytona I think.
I bet Bubba knows her, i wonder if she's ever been on the show. |

thank you ,for pointing this out.........my guess is vince was just pissed off, cause his fake bullshit death was upstaged, by a CHILD KILLER.
the time has now come, to tell vince and his fake bullshit, to fuck off, and fuck themselves...
for all i give a fuck, they should have these 'wrestler's' (and im using that term VERY loosely)
kill people every week, or at least each other, it would save those 1 point rating's, and ACTUALLY, could be entertaining if they did something for REAL, for once.
maybe in the next season of hogan knows best, could we have him .... maybe snipe a neighbor ? or at least kick a puppy ? |

Does know one fucking understand that when the WWE did the tribute NONE of this murder/suicide stuff had come out? As far as they knew they had lost a co-worker, his wife and their kid in a horrible tragedy, so they paid tribute to their co-workers career and to the man they thought they knew.
As it is now if you go looking around the WWE's website, you won't find the tribute videos, it's already been reported no more tribute shows will be given towards him and at the most they'll still put up the birth - death date and a picture of him before the two shows left to be televised and that's even up for speculation.
They weren't knowingly paying tribute to a murderer, and once all this stuff has come to light they changed directions accordingly...I thought it was shitty for Bubba and the guys to go off on the various interviews in the first place seeing as how no one knew then what we all have been told now.
If everything truly went down the way the police are telling it then fuck that loser and may he burn in hell, if you wanna check out that's fine by everyone but at least have the balls to go out alone and not take your wife and one of your kids with you, but you can't fault the WWE for trying to pay tribute to a man they thought they knew. |
|

| I think WWE knew more, sooner than the rest of us did. I think they wanted to get the tribute in before the truth came out. It said on wwe.com, they had more details, but at the request of authorities weren't saying anything. Remember, wrestlers and their organizations are great at keeping things secret and are kings of "drama". Fuck Benoit! |

WARNING SIGNS THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH CHRIS BENOIT
By: Bob Ryder
6/26/2007 5:08:55 PM
In speaking with close friends and confidants of Chris Benoit contacted this afternoon, apparently there were some warning signs that something was wrong with Benoit.
Some of the information learned by 1Wrestling.com by colleagues and friends that did not want to be quoted:
"This wasn't roid rage, this was insanity. Roid rage doesn't last for 48 hours. There were signs that something was wrong. Stories have emerged that a year ago he became paranoid and believed he was being followed. He wouldn't let Nancy leave the house because he believed someone was out to get them."
“Chris hated religion. He didn't believe in it. I cannot comprehend him putting bibles by the bodies. I am shocked.”
In addition, 1Wrestling has learned that sources close to Nancy are reporting that she had a safety deposit box with evidence of past rages and that authorities should check the box if anything ever happened to her. |

The interviews were probably taped earlier than the 7pm start time, the whole thing could've been taped earlier so there's no telling what they knew or didn't know at the time and then if they did know by the actual start time a show still has to go on. It was a whole lot different from the Eddie Gurerro tribute show though.
It's a terrible thing no matter what happened, I just hope and pray that his other kids are ok after all of this.
Not that this matters but I find it odd that both Benoit and Eddie were about to be given the title right before they died. |

The latest says Benoit used a chokehold on his son...
From the AJC.com
District Attorney Scott Ballard said the boy had internal injuries to the throat area, but showed no bruises, indicating he may have been locked in the crook of his father's arm. Previous reports have said the boy had been smothered or strangled.
Nancy Benoit, 43, had bruises on her back and stomach consistent with someone pressing a knee into the small of the back while pulling on a cord around the neck, Ballard said.
Benoit, 40, killed himself by wrapping a cord around his neck that was attached to a weight machine, Ballard said. Benoit released the weights — about 240 pounds — to cause strangulation, he said.
Ballard said the pull-down bar had been removed from the machine. He was found seated against the machine in the basement of his home. |
