As much as I would like to rip WWE for paying 3 hr tribute to what turned out to be one of the biggest pieces of shit and cowards in history, I have to give them a slight pass because when they had to go on the air live they didn't have the details that were available now so they had to go with what they knew at the time. But I do agree with people who say had RAW been live today instead of yesterday and knowing what we know now, would ANYONE say a nice word about Benoit. And do you think ANYONE in that locker room feels the same way this morning about that piece of garbage that they felt yesterday. Because of how this went down, WWE will need to distance and drop Benoit all together and he will never make the HOF. Yes he was one of the greatest in ring wrestlers of all time much like OJ was one the greatest RB of all time but in reality Beniot is actaully worse than OJ because not only did he take the life of his wife but he suffocated a small innocent child and then turned into the biggest pussy of them all and took his own life instead of facing consequences for his actions. What ever he did in his career was just wiped out by this. Will be very interesting to see what wrestlers show up at the funnerals and what their reactions are now. F U Benoit you gutless coward. I am not a wrestling fan by any means, but my wife's younger is staying with us this summer for vacation (He is in the age demo that actually though Vince McMahon was blown up) so I saw some of RAW last night. It is just a horrible thing to hear about. To kill yourself is one thing, but to kill your wife and child is an act that is beyond comprehension. I am sure people will say nice things and pay respect, but in reality I do not know how anyone would be able to be truthful in their feeelings.

my opinion is wait til it all comes out..all reports seem to indicate he was a "family man" and also dont forget that his wife was at one time in the wrestling business also..until the Atlanta police reveal the "bizarre aspects" of the case..I am sure WWE will take a wait and see attitude also

Grim details of the murder-suicide are coming to light. We have learned that authorities believe that Chris Benoit strangled his wife Nancy on Saturday, then killed his son Daniel on Sunday either by strangling him or smothering him in his bed. On Monday, he then hung himself, reportedly in the weight room of his Georgia home. More details are expected to be released by officials later today.

TMZ.com has picked up the story and are reporting similar details on their website.

We have spoke with a number of WWE employees since the news broke and they all share our feeling of shock at the events. Everyone, us included, wonder how this could have possibly happened

WWE Has quickly removed anything Benoit from their website other than the updates on the investigation. There is no Benoit merchandise availabe nor are they listing his name on any of their DVDs. They are also considering re-issuing alot of the DVDs without his name listed and possibly alot of his matches removed. So they totally for the good of their shareholders are quickly trying to distance themselves from having ANYTHING to do with Benoit from this day forward. No HOF EVER for that SOB. And I wonder how many of the "boys" who talked so much about love and RESPECT they had for Benoit, have that same love and Respect this morning. I'm guessing ZERO

They are saying Benoit likely died later on Sat night. He died with pulley cord attached to weights. They don't know about the emergency he told WWE About. Need to get toxicology reports back and re-evaluate. They can't say for sure right now he was ON Roids when this all happened.

Sheriffs Lieutenant Tommy Pope spoke first.

- He discussed how authorities had received a phone call from WWE at 2:30pm yesterday out of concern when they couldn't get in touch with him. The police searched the Benoit home and discovered the three bodies. At this point, the autopsy has been completed and the investigators are ruling this a double homicide and suicide.

- Going by reports from the medical examiner, it is believed by investigators that Benoit asphyxiated his wife, possibly as early as Friday, then asphyxiated his son on Saturday. Both deaths are currently being ruled as death by asphyxiation. Then it is believed that late Saturday or early Sunday, Benoit hung himself. Pope stated that is was several hours, but no more than a day, between the time of Daniel's death and the time that Benoit hung himself. Toxicology reports are still being worked on, but that is the findings of the investigators at this time.

- There was no suicide note found in the home.

- Daniel Benoit was located in his bedroom, Nancy Benoit was located in an office area, both in the upstairs part of the house.

- Pope said they would not discuss any possible motives for Benoit's actions at this time. Pope also said that they were not able to determine his state of mind as a result of investigating the crime scene.

- When asked if Benoit had an arrest record, Pope noted he had been arrested once on an DUI, but in their jurisdiction they had no knowledge of any arrests or any record of domestic violence. He had no knowledge of any divorce filings.

- Pope stated that there was a lot of prescription medication, which they believe was all legally prescribed. He did not have a full list of drugs, but when pressed by the media, Pope stated that there was anabolic steroids. He noted that there was a prescription for them.

- Pope stated that Benoit did send a text message to a "co-worker" during the weekend, who received it several hours after it was sent. Pope would not disclose the contents of the message or who it was sent to.

District Attorney Scott Ballard then fielded questions from the media.

- Regarding a comment Ballard had made about the deaths being "bizarre", Ballard said that he felt the presumed timing of the deaths of the victims and the suicide was bizarre, as it would mean that Benoit was in the home for several hours with the dead bodies.

- There was a bible placed next to the body of Nancy and a bible next to the body of Daniel. There was no bible found in the room where Benoit hung himself.

- Nancy Benoit was bound around her feet and her wrists (Ballard seemed unsure about the wrists at first), and blood was found under her head. She was clothed, but wrapped in a towel in an office area in the upstairs part of the house.

- Daniel Benoit's body was found in his bed, he was clothed. His bedroom was also in the upstairs part of the home.

- Ballard reiterated that the autopsy reports indicate that Nancy Benoit was killed on Friday, Daniel Benoit on Saturday morning, and that it is believed Benoit died later Saturday, possibly Sunday.

- The subject of Benoit calling WWE this weekend and informing them that he had to miss the shows due to a family emergency was brought up. Ballard said was not aware of what Benoit claimed the family emergency was.

- Ballard said he had not seen the documents, but noted he had been informed of the order of protection that Nancy Benoit had filed for, but later asked to be rescinded several years ago.

- Ballard noted that toxicology reports will take time, but these are their conclusions to date.

- Ballard did not know if there were firearms in the house.

That ended the press conference, and it was noted that investigators were still at work in the Benoit house.

The guy is a MURDERER and I don't know of one organization that has EVER allowed a murderer into a Hall of Fame (at least, AFTER knowing that he was a murderer). The hall of fame is an honor that goes to those men/women who have given so much to a sport, but not only that, to men and women who represent the sport with grace and dignity (for the most part...athletes these days are making that harder).

Fuck all of you who are jumping to assumptions about this. None of you have any idea about what happened between the time Benoit left to go home and when he was found dead with his family. For all you know, Benoit could have come home and found his wife fucking some other guy who ran away and then Benoit snapped and went overboard. Also, it is still an APPARENT murder/suicide. I doubt the police down there are necessarily the best, and no one knows whether or not someone came in and just killed the entire family and made it look like a murder/suicide. Don't start judging Benoit until all the facts are out. Also, if Pete Rose is allowed in the WWF Hall of Fame, then the only way Benoit should not be allowed in is if it was discovered that he raped 14 young girls back in Edmonton. If it comes out that Benoit was murderered or didn't do it, that changes everything. But what are the chances of that?

It changes everything and therefore needs to be examined. If what everyone has been saying is true and Benoit went and took the lives of not only 2 superstars (him and Woman) and his own son, then I would definately give him a big "FUCK YOU" as well.

My point about Pete Rose is that the ONLY reason he is in the HOF is because Kane beat him up a few times. Pete Rose did not live and struggle and love the business like Benoit did, and for him to be in the HOF is a total joke; almost as much as giving the WCW title to David Arquette.

Whatever comes out from all of this does not diminish the fact that Benoit was a hard worker and a wrestlers' wrestler. If he's guilty, then yes he is a coward and a piece of shit for doing what he did. However, I'm not about to throw away all respect I have for the man based off of this ACCUSATION. Lets wait until everything comes out and then we can create all the "FUCK YOU BENOIT" threads.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon will apologize for the three-hour USA Network tribute to pro wrestler Chris Benoit that aired Monday night, sources said.

The WWE and USA Network have received complaints about the tribute, which was hastily produced after Mr. Benoit, his wife and their son were found dead in their Georgia home Monday afternoon.

Authorities said Tuesday that Mr. Benoit strangled his wife and suffocated his son, then took his own life. But WWE and network officials were unaware of the circumstances of Mr. Benoit’s death when the tribute was assembled, sources said.

The WWE canceled its regularly scheduled “Monday Night RAW” event on USA Network Monday night and aired the tribute in its place.

Mr. McMahon will address wrestling fans tonight on Sci Fi Channel’s live Extreme Championship Wrestling event. He also plans to address speculation that Mr. Benoit’s actions were the result of steroid use.

The WWE plans to resume its regular wrestling telecasts, which air on USA Network, Sci Fi Channel and the CW.

Fayetteville, Georgia District Attorney Scott Ballard was interviewed by ESPN.com as part of a feature article on the Chris Benoit murder-suicide case. Ballard told the website that the text messages that have been mentioned previously as sent by Benoit (believed to be sent to WWE star Chavo Guerrero, who had just spent time with the family) stated that Nancy and Daniel Benoit were sick (believed to be sent after they were murdered) and a second noting the doors were open and the dogs were outside. Ballard believed the second message may have been an attempt by Benoit to make sure the bodies were discovered after his suicide.

More shocking was Ballard's revelation that The Benoit's son Daniel was found with needle marks in his arms. ESPN wrote, "The district attorney said he believed that the boy had been given growth hormones for some time because the family considered him undersized." HGH can be prescribed for children deemed hormone deficient.
