GREAT NEWS!!!
the police just called. They found the truck & the dog abandoned about an hour away. They feel that all the news, radio chatter, flyers, & all of Bubba's help getting the word out must of scared them into ditching it. No word on what kind of shape the dog is in or how long he's been locked up in the truck. They are on their way to pick both up right now. They'll be bringing Dakota to an animal hospital to get checked out and then tomorrow they are going to bring him around to all the area stores / resteraunts that hung up the flyers for them.
Heather & Roger want to thank everyone for all their support and help. They asked that I refund the donations but they are so greatful to everyone that helped. I'll be sure to get them all of your messages.

I'll be going thru and refunding the money / gathering up all of the messages tomorrow. Since the vehicle & dog were recovered, they don't need the reward money. thanks again darkside. |

I wonder if others would be interested in donating their unused reward donations towards a dog/animal shelter, or the US Humane Society? It's obvious that Dakota has an awesome family, and is taken care of as good as it gets! But sadly, he's in the minority. MANY other animals are in need of our help, and the existing shelters are all badly underfunded which results in bad things :(
It's just a thought.....I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is too.
If this is an option, please forward my $40 donation to the animal charity of your choice.

I think that's great news because the whole thing was a sad situation, with the dog in the SUV.
Hopefully, the police still catch the person or persons responsible for the crime, but the main thing is the dog is safe. |

I'm pretty sure the police were involved but I don't have details as to how it was found. They were pretty busy when they call in trying to get the word out. I'm sure they will give us the details when they can. They should be nearing the location to pick him up soon. My guess is they wrap things up, stop somewhere and buy all the meat and toys for him they can then go back to the hotel and decompress. |

Hope the cops fingerprint the truck. Odds are VERY good that the assholes didnt clean up their tracks perfectly and left some prints. I think with that kind of information, they could press charges.
If thats the case, then as soon as I have the money, Ill donate for the lawyers fees. I was waiting to get paid before putting money in for the reward.
Being broke sucks when something like this comes up, and it ends up being too late.

| Great news! I'm so happy for them. Such a beautiful dog too. Looks a lot like an Alaskan Malamute, my girlfriend used to have one and coincidentally he was named Dakota also.
